After reading many mixed reviews, I bought this Hawk flute in black for my 12 year old daughter. Her flute teacher played the flute and commented that it plays a good sound and is just as nice as another student's flute, for which she shelled out 600€ for hers. The paint is fragile (flute came with a tiny chip off the paint) but this does not affect the sound. For a parent looking to find an inexpensive flute that will last and plays just as well as more expensive brands, this is a good choice. I never write product reviews, but since the reviews on this product labeled this flute a "toy" and not durable, those reviews do not give a parent, who doesn't want to spend much money, much credible information. I had ordered another brand's purple flute, but they had sold out of the purple flute, so for a few dollars more I ordered the Hawk purple flute. This is for a beginning student and it exceeds all of the criteria. It arrived very fast and the tools and the case are a nice bonus. This flute produces a beautiful and sweet sound and the purple color is definitely permanent. I can say that I am now very grateful that the other one was sold out. Nice flute! Its mydaughter's 1st yr so if she decides she doesn't like it i've only spent $100 instead of $1000! And this flute is just as nice as those! And school music teacher also agreed its a nice flute! Very happy with it....this far! :)
