Having been married for almost 50 years, I finally purged many of my stained, faded placemats from years gone by. I had not priced placemats, but knew that I desired placemats that: would be a reasonable size for a dinner plate, glass and silverware. So when I came across these, being 13" X 19" I realized that this size would work. I was hesitant at first to even look at these, noting the lower review rating they had, but when I saw that the one lower rating had been critical of the size, I felt that that was their error for not measuring, not the fault of the placemat. Anyway, I just received this set of 6 today and am very pleased. The placemats have a nice thickness to them to protect our new table even when using heated plates, which I do quite often. The depth still allows tableware to still sit flat, even if sitting on an edge. They arrived rolled up, so I thought that they would need some time to lay flat, but within an hour, they were attractively placed on our table with no humps or valleys. I would advise for a couple extra dollars to get 6 rather than 4, giving you value for your money and a backup in case of stains or extra for the center of your table, etc. The color is true to the color pictured, with cream colored backing. This is a nice set that I highly recommend.

I love these sturdy, textured placemats with tasseled edges. The set of six is very giftable, with a nice fabric ribbon and clear instructions for care. I was pleased to see that the small label is sewn onto each placemat and can be easily removed so you can use the reverse side also. Much of the mat would be obscured by a charger, so I will use these in more casual settings. The color I chose is a dusty blue which is very pretty, and the nubby texture should protect the surface underneath. But I would not use these in place of trivets for hot cookware - the fabric feels sturdy but isn’t thick enough. I think they will shrink due to the rough raw feel of the fabric, so I will spray these with waterproofing treatment to protect them for the first few uses, then be sure to wash them all together so they fade and shrink uniformly. The tassels are even around the edges, but the stitching used to attach them is a bit uneven. The more rugged style makes this not a deal breaker for me, but it might bother more OCD and perfectionist types. Beautiful, practical and washable; very handy!

These placemats are well made of a heavy woven fabric. I got the blue ones and they’re blue on one side and a cream color on the other side. To me, the blue has a green tint when I look at it overall, but upon inspection, they are definitely blue. I couldn’t get the greenish tint to duplicate in my photos. I think it just may be that the yellow in the cream color woven in with the blue casts a green hue in certain light. I laid the placemat on a blue quilt thinking it would magnify the difference but instead it brought out more blue. The size of these placemats (14 x 14) is perfect for a round or oval table or for a small square one so they don’t overlap with each other. They are made of cotton so I won’t wash them in hot water nor put them in my dryer. I’ll smooth them out flat to air dry. I’ll probably mostly wipe them down with a damp cloth to clean them unless there’s a big spill. They are really very nice placemats.

The placemats are too small for my dining set. Even if I use paper plates, the coverage would be too small for a large plate. The nubby fabric with the fringe is nice, and the selection of colors are good. I just wish that the mats were wider from side to side.

These placemats have a satisfying thickness and feels like canvas. I like that the frayed edges are shorter threads than long for easier management. The blue color is like a shade of a robin's egg blue, a nice calm color for the eyes during spring and summer. The size is spacious enough for a dinner plate, cup, and utensils with napkins. There was a slight smell to the placemats that wasn't quite stinky but it was distinct enough, I guess it's the smell of cotton. There's also some loose fluff here and there but easily brushed off. The placemats also flattened out with ease. I'd recommend!

I am delighted with my new Hausattire Cotton Frayed Placemats. The color is a pleasant, calming shade of blue, while the cream color on the back adds a little coziness when used. Since they are made of cotton, they are thick, durable and should last for years. And, of course, I'll be careful when laundering to avoid shrinkage.
