Description

In The Game of Life: Super Mario Edition board game, players choose to play as Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Yoshi, journeying through the Mushroom Kingdom, and finally spinning to win in a battle against Bowser! They move around the looping paths of the gameboard as they collect coins, power up with items and Companions, and play fun minigames along the way such as Rock Paper Scissors, Thumb Wars, and Spin-Offs. As they approach Bowser's Castle, players will also buy stars to boost their battle-spin; each star collected adds 1 point to their spin total, and players will need to spin higher than a 12 to defeat Bowser and win the game. We got this for our kids for Christmas because they love Mario, and it’s been a hit with them! There’s not much skill involved, but there are just enough choices to make it feel like you’re doing more than just spinning the wheel and seeing what happens. One thing to be aware of is the “gotcha” cards. They let you steal someone else’s star (which normally takes a few turns to earn), coins, or even make someone skip their turn. It can get frustrating, especially for younger players, but it does add some unpredictability to the game. Another thing to note is one of the “minigames” involves a thumb war. If the youngest player lands on it, they probably won’t stand a chance, so we made a home rule to even things out. Overall, it’s a fun and easy family game that captures the Mario vibe. If your kids love Mario, they’ll probably enjoy this one! ... show more

Great family game for kids that are 6 and up. It's not like your typical Life game. It's a fast and simple way of playing with the young ones. My son loves it. There is no insurance or having kids involved. It's collection of stars to beat the boss.
