  • Akward Choice of Characters
The game is alright. Plays like the other Talismans. Voldemort acts more like the Grim Reaper in Talisman, but less scary. If you roll a 1. Then after your turn, you roll for him to move. The only thing on his card are might and magic stats, and his power determines how far or close he is towards the school. If you beat him in battle, you roll a dice to determine what you get out of him, but if you lose, you just lose one health. Nothing really bad happens to you. When my group played everyone was able to beat him. He really wasn't a scary threat everytime he caught up to us. Characters are alright. It just doesn't make sense that you can't play main characters like Snape, Ron, serious black, or Hermione. We played for about 3 hours, and we never once attacked each other because there was no reason to until the very end, or hardly faught any monsters. One thing I learned after I played the game, you can trade in trophies with the cost of 5 and not 7 like the other talisman games, so you can level up faster. Followers have alignments, so if you draw a card, and they match your alignment, you keep it, but if you are opposite then you fight it. But most times everyone was just drawing the right alignment. There was hardly no battles. Maybe, I just need to play this game a second time. After the game I realized you can fight other people's followers and steal them as trophies to trade in to increase your strength. Also, you can only have 3 followers at a time. Will this game have an expansion pack in the future? I want there to be so badly because I feel like it lacks so much characters, enemies, and items. But I doubt they will release it, sadly. Also, the board fails to mention certain things. For example in the inner region when you do a quest at the Quidditch field, you get the piece you need to enter the castle. The rule book says it, but the board doesn't for some strange reason. I was the player that hasn't reached that point in the game yet while the rest did, but for my friends who never played Talisman, they didn't know that once they complete a quest they gain the key that they need to get into the castle. We were all running around wondering when we will get the right item to get into the castle. There's 3 ways to get it. Drawing it, Rolling a 10 at haggrets house, or doing a quest at the Quidditch field. Overall, it's a solid game. Now me knowing the rules more, it seems like the game is a faster pace than the original Talismans. ... show more

  • Great worth!!
and the shipment was REALLY fast! Like a month earlier then expected originaly I played the game several tumes and it so fun. Even though the character's choice is odd, the gameplay and abilities are rather interesting. And every character card has 2 different descriptions on each side, so it can change for a game to game, depending on what character side you drew. Its also so nice to have a board game to play with 2 people, and not needing at least 3, so sometimes you can play as a pair of 2 order of phoenix or 2 death eaters to aim for greatnes, or be one of each and play against each other. Another great thing is the quality! Great plastic figurines, and the life bar, though odd compared to the life, strength and wisdom marks in the original talisman, this rotator mark is a space saver, though limited. ... show more

  • Confusing rules but overall interesting game!
We are big HP fans! And my husband enjoys painting miniatures. (Human error on his part ruined Voldemort, hence why a cardinal is standing in his place on our game board). However, the game play is confusing. The rule book, although detailed, is missing some play descriptions - particularly when battling during an Encounter. If you lose, does the enemy remain on the board or not? We could not find simple answers like that anywhere. We ended up not finishing the game and will wait until we find out more details. Maybe someone who has played the original Talisman games will know. Beautiful game board and cards, though. You do need lots of table space to play. Overall, good game for HP fans but not for beginners! ... show more

  • Character Cards are double sided and felt, not shuffled..
Disappointing that character cards canโ€™t be randomly picked, they are felt out like playing cards. No more life, might, manic tokens, but the new wheel system makes it a wash. Quality figurines and board, but a bit underwhelming for the encounter cards, which are very repetitious for items, followers, magical items, events, and battles. I was expecting a more diverse immersive experience. Spells and items are especially lame and repetitive, but at least thereโ€™s one Ressurection Spell equivalent. ... show more

  • Itโ€™s an intriguing game
Never playing Talisman before. We definitely had a learning curve. We are avid board gamers and own more than most people. We love Harry Potter so this was up our alley for sure. I cannot wait how to play again and have friends over to play.

  • Needs better instructions
There's nothing worse than a game board with vague instructions, and that's exactly what's happening in this set. I've not played any other talisman games, but I shouldn't have to in order to understand this one. We even tried to look up answers online but I guess this version is not widely played enough to have a big online following. Bummer. ... show more

  • Missing a piece (contacted usaopoly)
When we unpacked the game a piece is missing from the game spinner construction we recieved an extra front piece but are missing the back piece. I am not sure if this is an isolated issue or a manufacturing issue. But either way u can only play 5 players then instead of 6 unless u contruct your own solution and at $50 for a game I should not have to construct. Also you can tell the game was originally ment to have 6 dice as the slot area is designed for 6 so that made things look a little cheap. If the piece wasn't missing I would give the game 5 stars. We did have to watch videos and argue a lot to get through the game but as a couple that seems to be our MO for picking a game we can agree on. Edit: so I am changing my review to 5 stars as we really enjoyed the game and usaopoly sent us replacement pieces fairly quickly so the game is now complete. ... show more
