  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for PlayStation

Description

Be the young wizard in training Harry Potter, learning to master all things magical in a world filled with fun and danger. Overcome adversity and challenges, and encounter unforgettable characters from J.K. Rowling's worldwide bestseller. You take the role of Harry Potter as he enrolls in Hogwarts and embarks on a journey to unlock the secrets of his own magical abilities. Harry will have to complete and solve tasks and puzzles, learn how to use spells, gather potions and collect items in order to wear down the stamina of his opponents and defeat them, as well as battle creatures and occasionally face off against evil characters. As you gain information and successfully complete confrontations, they will receive Experience Points (EXP). As you collect EXP, you effectively increase in strength and abilities, and will be able to upgrade spells you have learned and engage in more physical challenges. What if you could leave the nonmagical world of the Muggles behind and enroll in Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft? Now you can find out in the PlayStation release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Play as Harry, the precocious wizard, and adventure with him and amazing characters from the J.K. Rowling book that started it all. Climb, jump, and sneak as you explore 3-D environments faithful to Hogwarts and its grounds. Master your wizardry skills, such as piloting a broomstick, casting spells, gathering items to mix potions, scoring points for Gryffindor, and more. Learn your lessons and uncover wizard sweets, broomsticks, chocolate frogs, famous wizard cards, and even the invisibility cloak. Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Rubeus Hagrid, Albus Dumbledore, and many of the book's other characters join Harry as he masters the sport of Quidditch, takes a 3-D roller coaster ride through Gringotts, and shops at Diagon Alley. Explore Hogwarts, its grounds, the Forbidden Forest, and more as you play through puzzles and minigames and battle evil creatures. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone uses colorful 3-D graphics to capture the daring and enchantment of Harry's world, rendering it in spirited detail. And as Harry, you'll experience the adventure and thrill of a young wizard's first year at Hogwarts, as well as the awesome responsibility of finding the Sorcerer's Stone and challenging He- Who-Cannot-Be-Named. But first you'll have to complete your courses.

  • Harry Potter entertains the college dorm room!
i was impressed with the speed in which i received this item. This was part of a group of Harry Potter gifts that i ordered for my son's birthday. He was so excited to get all of his Harry Potter gift's that he took them all to college with him and is the hit of his dorm. His room was designated "the room" to hang out in. when he and his friends are not in class maintaining their 4.0 GPA's, they are busy playing this new and magical game! Thank you for helping me make his birthday a magical experience, Sincerely, K. Kurtz ... show more

  • great for young gamers
i bought this for my five year old son for christmas...like a lot of youngsters in recent times he's been harry potter mad! :-) he asked me numerous times for this game. as a parent i've found it fairly hard finding games that i feel are suitable for my five year old...i found some baby games which i know he'd hate and loads of teen and adult games that were by no means suitable. a friend of mine advised me against getting this as she thought it might be too violent or scary...it's not at all :-) i'm glad i got it...my son really enjoys playing it and it seems to be tailored to the needs of a young audience...if you have older children or experienced gamers to buy for then this probably is not what your looking for...my eight year old nephew who is well used to playing playstation games got through the whole game quite rapidly, he said it was fun but that he though he might get bored with it quite quickly...if on the other hand your looking for something for the young upcoming gamer in your family this is likely to be a real hit :-) ... show more

  • I approve
I like playing games that are fun and that I can actually finish, simple games. So I enjoyed the fact SS didn't take me a month to beat (or never beat at all, which is mostly the case with me). I had fun with the puzzles and learning the spells. Play for me was quite enjoyable. I also like that some elements of the game (if not the story itself) seems more akin to canon (the book) than the movie. There are some problems. Auto-jump, it's annoying not having a jump button and hoping you run or stop for just the right jump, especially when you want to control your jump into the unknown. The camera angles are bad at times, sometimes you're shooting off a spell and hoping it hits it's target or (as mentioned) jumping into the unknown. But mostly I was satisfied. The save spots are annoying. There are some difficult task where I wish there was a save spot and there wasn't one (they should let you save anywhere). The PS1 character graphics could be better too (but I thought the castle/grounds were well done). Also, I which they would let me skip some of the storybook stuff on repeated task/plays and sometimes they don't let you. I'm GLAD the chess game wasn't real chess (since I suck), I would have never won. My favorite parts were racing Peeves and Gringotts (gathering coins in the cart, not collecting the forms). And Quidditch is cool, except you can't really lose. Sneaking around behind Filch in your invisibility cloak is cool, but I don't understand why it doesn't work without the invisibility tolken. (the bloody bird in Olivanders in annoying, but just chase him down and stay on his tail until the feather fills up, he always follow the same path) I'd recomend it for a novice adult player (like myself) or a kid player, for them this game is perfect and fun. Both myself and the kids at my house enjoy it. Even though what I REALLY want is Quidditch World Cup. ... show more

  • Looks new, feels like childhood!
When I first put it in it froze and I had to reset it 3 times to get it to play but that could be my console because once I got past the first story part it is perfect! Although it’s used you couldn’t tell by looking at the game there’s not a scratch on it and the booklet seems brand new. I can’t begin to say how amazing this game is more for nostalgia reasons than the actual game but that’s why we play on these old consoles right?!! ... show more

  • Thow Back right here
Ahh.. talk about a throw back Thursday. Nothing takes you back more than this game. The graphics are borderland horrible but what else do you expect from a Ps1 game. This game came early, and was in mint condidtion and as a collector is very important. I was impressed by the price. Played though flawlessly. All in lt was an amazing buy! Thank you for 5 hours of the best part of my childhood! ... show more

  • Best PlayStation One game!
The amount of hours I have put into this game is not funny. One of the best PlayStation One games I have ever played and I had a pretty grand collection. I love this game and would play it any day.

  • Harry Potter and the misguided adventures through Hogwarts
I used to have this game as a kid. I forgot how hilarious the graphics were. You start the game with Dumbledore pointing his traffic cone eyebrows at you, but you continue with spells and memorably difficult controls. The game gives you plenty of time to figure out the controls though. I love this flight through memory Lane. ... show more
