  • This book is a fake and a con
The text of this book is taken whole cloth from old industrial manuals relating to mass production from the early 1900's. If your goal is to restore a large heat treating plant to mimic all the processes and equipment from the time of Henry Ford, this is your book. Obsolete, useless in any context... absolutely no relevant information is provided, nor is it intended be. Look at the "five" star reviews, "still reading it" (it is a very small book) My husband loved it" "Great read" all unsigned and nonspecific...totally fake. The author of the book is not the author of the book. E.R. Markham is the author of two of the "papers" in the book, likely long dead. Besides having no author it has no publisher and no address, it was printed in Columbia SC one day before I received it. The back cover of the book expresses the content of the book as "carving and etching flowers". This con man uses the same cover print for a number of other book of different topics of metal working, and even changes covers so reference this book so as not to get hooked by his other scams. I wish there was a way to notify Amazon but there seems like there is no way to talk to a person ... show more

  • Not worth buying
the photo would have you believe this book will give you information a blacksmith could use, but most of the book talks about industrial methods, not torch & dunk methods used in blacksmithing.. It does not cover practical useful information like temperatures, colors, quenching materials and such. Looks like a couple of short papers by different people slapped together with a cover. the cover should show industrial equipment, not blacksmithing tools. I do not recommend anyone buy this book, its out of date and useless.Amazon should drop the product. ... show more

  • This is a history book
this is a reprint of a history of the subject going back 150 years. Not what I needed for my work today.

  • One Star
Small print copied from another source. Little original information. Do not buy !!!!

  • random information cut and pasted into a pamphlet
OK, this is not a book, it is a pamphlet, a thin pamphlet at that. it was not "written", it is copy pasted entries describing and promoting industrial processes and factory equipment from 1900's. There is no practical information that a tool maker or smith or knifemaker can use in this "book".

  • Not for me
Was not what I was expecting. The book is more of a guide for industrial tool work not hobby stuff. Would not recommend
