I wasn’t sure what to expect given the description as a tea knife or ice pick. It looks like a dark hardwood dowel with Chinese artwork engraved on it. It unscrews smoothly to show a thick, sturdy little Damascus blade. Before I received it my plan was to sharpen it for use as a general purpose backpack knife, however that changed the moment I looked at it. It is perfect as-is, and other than keeping the point up enough to be functional, I won’t be making any changes. It does work best when used for its original purpose. If you have gotten the round cakes of tea, you know how tough they are, and this works perfect for breaking them up. It would also work well as an ice pick, although I haven’t personally used it for that. Would work well for anything tough that needed to be broken apart. It is plenty tough enough for the job, and an interesting conversation starter while having tea. Would definitely buy again, and will recommend to friends and family. ... show more

This little knife is great. Solid construction, great detail, beautiful. I use it to break into fermented tea blocks but it would also be great for opening letters or even probably okay as a pocket knife if you sharpened it a bit. Beautiful carvings on the wood and beautiful Damascus style metal for the blade. Everything fits well, no vibrations or weird areas.
