I would like to have given this suitcase 4.5 stars. I really like it overall - especially because you can put it on a luggage rack and just open the lid. Much, much better than the clamshell style. It is lightweight, smooth zippers, the handle is long enough for a tall person, and the wheels seem good. I used it for a road trip and it slid around a little in the bed of a pickup truck, yet the outside did not scratch. There are two things that, if changed, would make it deserving of more than 5 stars: 1) It would be helpful to have a grab handle on the bottom. 2) More importantly, when pulling your computer bag off the extendable handle, the sleeve snags on the "overhang" part of the plastic handle that you pull the suitcase with. Because of this, you need two hands to pull your computer bag off - the second hand is needed to spread open the sleeve on your computer bag so it clears that overhang. All in all, it's a very nice product.

I love this bag. I have the smallest one and the second to smallest one. They seem to hold significantly more than the bags that open at the halfway point. The wheels seem flimsy though and I worry they may break off with the rough handling in checked baggage but so far so good. I bought the insurance just in case of damage. I have the white ones (which really aren’t actually white) and I put a clear suitcase cover over it to keep it from getting scuffed up in transit. I just wish Hanke (or anyone) would make a bag in this style (front/top opening) that will fit under the seat on the plane. I have the Hanke 14”, which is the perfect size, but doesn’t open from the front/top. Hanke, if you are reading this, please make a top/front loading underseat hard sided case to go with this set.

I had been looking for a replacement to my disheveled 15 year old (and relatively heavy at 12 lbs) Briggs & Riley soft carryon and was really kicked about discovering this piece. Wanted to get a decent yet inexpensive hardcase but everything else looked either too flimsy, too heavy, not really 22x14x9 (this one is pretty close) or that awful clamshell design (which is why I had stuck to soft cases up until now). Not only was it quite light for its polycarbonate design (see pics), but it is super-sleek looking, moves like silk, really sturdy in feel and form and overall pretty spacious for its size. I haven't used it as a check-in yet, but it works really well in the overhead carryon bins - easy to lift and get in or out, and glides smoothly when getting in and out of the plane. It has two small pockets for wet & dry laundry and nothing superfluous. The two TSA latches work really well. I like this carryon and its overall design so much that I'm considering getting one of the larger check-ins next. I see that the carryon price has come down by a few bucks since I purchased it for 175, so I'd say this is a terrific bargain, well worth it, especially compared to the more expensive name-brand clamshells with unnecessary bells and whistles. Pros: everything Cons: nothing

I found out my carryon was too large just 2 days before my flight and needed for order a new carryon that had next day shipping. My options were limited and this was one of the few that was the right size with spinner wheels and a hard shell that would make it on time. I didn’t even notice when I bought it that the top was what unzipped but this was a feature I absolutely must have for the rest of my life. Instead of having to awkwardly deal with 2 heavy halves of a suitcase I was able to just open the top. And there are straps to keep it open at a right angle so it doesn’t just flop over. I used this as a carryon for 2 United flights with no problems on size. I would definitely recommend this and would buy it again in the future.

I switched over from luggage that opens (along the midline) a few years ago, and this is the first four-wheeled, hard-shell, top-opening, 24” bag I’ve found. Since my husband and I retired, we’ve been doing more traveling on trains and in tour groups where we’re only be in a hotel for one or two nights before moving on, so we live out of our luggage and don’t unpack our stuff and put it in drawers or the closet. Neither train sleeper cars nor hotel rooms have places (other than on the bed) where you can lay out a bag that opens along the middle. After several trip when I had to lift my bag on and off of the bed two or three times a day, I switched to bags that would open on the top (taking up half as much space) and could be left, opened up, on the little luggage racks you find in hotel room closets or on a seat in a train compartment. When my most recently purchased cloth bag bit the dust after an airline flight, I started searching for a top-opening, hard-sided roller. This is a pound of two heavier than other 24” bags I’ve purchased, but it more than compensates by not needing to be hefted on and off of the bed. It isn’t expandable, but these days I don’t mind being forced to keep my packing on the light side.

The media could not be loaded. I love this piece of luggage, but it only comes with one zipper but there are 2 toggle slots to secure 2 zippers. Somehow the airport snapped off the zipper on my second use.

Purchased both the large and medium sizes. Love that it opens in front and not clamshell. This allows for much more efficient packing. This weekend, I used the 20inch and walked miles in the rain. I noticed a significant difference in how smoothly the wheels roll and handled uneven terrain compared to our previous suitcase. Despite down pouring rain, all contents inside remained dry! Will update if any issues with durability, but so far am really pleased with this purchase.
