THIS IS THE BEST SERIES EVER Acorrding to my 11 yr old gal!!! My gal has not really been interested in reading until she got these books. This is her review. It is great for ages 8-12! Books are from the dogs perspective on the ranch. How he feels about romance. My gal says there is violence but really its just the wifes perspective on how she feels about the mischief, Hank gets in(reference to shooting coyotes, well they do live in the country is my take on this)... many references to wacking the dog and yelling/name calling at the dog. "Get out of my Kithcen you Stinky Dog". Many mysteries from the dogs perspective to uncover. Lots very fun dog jokes from Hanks perspective. Lot of cowboy slang in the books. Can be educational because the dog does discuss what the adults are doing around him on the happenings in and around the a ranch. She can't put this books down.

I got this series for my daughter who really wanted it. The books arrived in very good state and came early than Expected! Hank The Coy Dog is a must read to kids of all ages! My Kids are now a Hank The Coydog fan!

My 7 yo son loves Hank. He wants me to read Hank stories with him every day since we bought them. He loves dogs and stories told from the perspective of animals. He laughs so hard at some Hank moments it's great. There are a few things in the books that use some dated language (e.g. name calling) that I have chosen to replace with other words when I encounter them (thankfully he wants me to read the books to him so I am censoring those things when I see them). I don't feel like my kid is ready to understand why those words are not okay today and why they were okay 40 years ago. I do use Hank's arrogance as a social model for my kid to understand how Hank's insecurities about himself seem to cause him to be a not so kind friend and how Hank misses social cues sometimes. I explain that even though Hank isn't perfect he does try hard (as much as a dog can) to do the right thing.

Hank stories are just funny. You will laugh out loud. My brother who was 40ish hooked me on the books. I, at the time 40, read them all in no time after reading the first five he gave me. My brother passed them to my 70 year old dad. I ordered a set to go past the first 5 and had them sent to my dad. My dad used to read the cowboy Louis lLamar books. He thought they were so funny he took them to his 5am meet up at the local Dairy Queen where a group of about 25 male farmers, ranchers, accountants, teacher and etc from a small Town in Texas would meet every weekday for coffee and breakfast. A lot knew each other since high school. Very supportive of each other and had great times hooting on each other. They met at different times in a two hour window. Some early risers and some not there till 730. They came and went after staying about an hour. They had their favorite seats. I found out some didn’t like others in the group so would make sure they sat at a different sides of the restaurant or came when they knew the other wasn’t going to be there. It was funny because you would have to really know them to know that they didn’t like each other. I went home to visit and my dad wanted me to go to meet his buddies so I went. It was charming. My dad, who likes everybody, made a comment about he was glad so in so wasn’t there since he had to come late to accommodate me. Hahaha bahhhh They all talked about their favorite scenes in this book to me and were laughing their heads off. My dad had started passing them around and people were taking turns reading them. I just bought a set now so I could read them with my 10 year old grandson. Hopefully they translate to this generation. It will be a nice memory for him if it does like it was with me and my dad and his old buddies.

I bought these as a baby shower present for my younger brother who is having his first child soon. He loved these books growing up so I thought he’d like to be able to read them to the baby when they get older. He said even if the kid doesn’t like them he’d probably re-read them himself 😂.
