Summary: Previously ordered the 110lb/50kg scale for measuring stuff around the house. Found that for odd items, the trick of weighing yourself with the item, and without would not work (exceeded the maximum scale rating). This scale, at 660lb/300kg doesn't have that issue. Observations: To test, I measured a large wood branch on my deck. I didn't zeroize (TARE) the weight of the white cord. The scale reported 55.44lb/25.2kg. Next I weighed the log and myself, 205.48lb/93.4kg. Switched over to a digital bathroom scale, and the combined weight was 205.6lb/93.45kg. And my body weight was 150.4lb/68.36kb. Subtracting 205.6-150.4 = 55.2lb/25.09kg, is what the bathroom scale says the log weighs. All told, that's within the tolerance of 0.1kg/0.2lb, per the manual (for this model). Recommendations: 1) When I installed the 3x "AA" batteries, I noticed the battery tray was loose, and when removing the batteries, you can pull the tray up. I opened the scale, to gain more slack in the wires, and then I was able to pull the tray up, then insert some double stick tape to hold the tray in place. 2) the manual doesn't say where the rubber grommet goes, but I figure it goes between the top mount and the U-shackle. To prevent the grommets from falling out when you remove the U-shackle, either for storage in the box, or during use; I added a zip-tie, loosely attached so as not to cut into the rubber, which works perfectly to prevent the grommets from falling out. 3) Interesting side note, the load cell inside the scale is marked 400kg/880lb; didn't try that, and probably would not either. Pros: Good fit & finish; aluminum housing/case; "AA" x3 batteries; heavy duty shackle/hook. Cons: Battery tray was not mounted to case, pulls up when removing batteries.
