I bought these shelves because I wanted to move some of my plant babies inside for the winter this year. We've got a bay window in the dining room that catches a lot of winter sun. Assembly and installation was a breeze. The shelves seem sturdy so far. The cat likes that window, too. We'll see if they can co-exist peacefully. If not, I might have to move it. My one suggestion to the manufacturer would be that they include extra screws/washers/covers for the ceiling hook. I dropped a screw and, of course it went into the baseboard heater fins somewhere. Had to take off the cover and vacuum it out to find the screw. Fortunately, I did find it.

The media could not be loaded. I got a 3 shelf and a 2 shelf bundle. The 2 shelf batch I got had its protective film become, what looks like, melted to the outer most corner rim of both shelves. It is impossible to get all the sticky disintegrated protective film off so it has a sugar coated look currently. It’s not a deal breaker for me but disappointed since the 3 shelf set up was SUCH a breeze to put together & looks just like I wanted! On that note, this product overall is beautiful & very adaptable! I am very pleased with being able to thread the thin wire rope through the roll up vinyl curtain box & horizontal blinds curtain box that I’ve been struggling to work around with other products. This way I didn’t have to use the screw in hooks provided or rely on command hook like sticky/velcro options to hold up fragile & semi-heavy plant cuttings :)

The product is of really great quality. I had to do my own math to figure out the shelf difference. Other then that it was simple to assemble. Brings a screwdriver for you to assemble. Extra long wires and extra nuts and screws. You can probably add more shelf’s if you want to expand. Would buy again

This is a review of Hanging Acrylic Plant Shelves for Windows by ZerzSemp. I would have given this four or possibly five stars, but for the lack of important instructions. First of all, be aware that the shelves are about 16" long (by about 6" deep), which is smaller than the main picture might have you believe. The xx"H in the Product Dimensions refers to the length of the (nicely coated) hanging wire, i.e., not the product itself. Most importantly, the instructions do not tell you to crimp -- mush down -- the double-tube wire pass-through; I did this with some large channel-lock pliers. If you don't do this, and you have plants that are, say, mostly to the front or rear of the shelves, the shelves can tip front-to-rear (or back-to-front), as the wire would slide through the double-tube device (see picture). There is also no discussion in the printed instructions or the product video regarding how big to make that loop up top, or even if its size matters in terms of stability. Nor is there mention of how wide -- how far apart -- you should place the top hooks. Aesthetically, in-line with the shelf holes seems best, but might moving the hooks farther apart increase side-to-side stability (perhaps in breezy situations)? Nor are there pictures of the screw surrounds or the pressure-fit caps, the ones that go through the hooks; these are nice, but there is a right and wrong way to place those plastic screw surrounds, and this presupposes some experience with such devices. Last, the marking method in the video assumes that you can figure out exactly where you want the shelves, in terms of vertical position, before hanging up the hooks, before any consideration of the loop size, and assuming the center of the wire remains exactly in the center after installing the double-tube and crimping it. Or that you won't want to alter the height, after you see it up. I dispensed with all that, and just used a 9" bubble level. I loosely tightened the stoppers, adjusted one side front-to-back for levelness, then adjusted the other side for side-to-side, and then front-to-back levelness; this is somewhat tedious, but allows you to position the shelves in situ, as a finished product. Then I tightened the stopper screws in earnest, using a #2 JIS screwdriver, holding the stopper with pliers. (The provided screwdriver is low quality, and not suitable for the task at hand.) I ordered two four-shelf units, but we only wanted to use two shelves per window; what I wanted to ensure was that the wire was long enough for any decisions we might make regarding placement. Make sure you try to evenly position plants (in small pots) front-to-back, even with the crimping. And don't forget that there is (hard-to-remove) plastic film on both sides of each shelf. On balance, these shelves look nice, and seem sturdy enough for the task at hand. And the screws for the two hangers seem like very good wood screws (on which I also used the #2 JIS screwdriver, after a hammer-and-awl punch). So we might order another set or two, for some other windows. Just keep in mind that the shelves are smaller than you might think -- lengthwise -- and make sure that you have enough depth in your upper molding to accommodate the depth of the shelves; you'll want the hangers at least 3" out from the window, and possibly more, if you want to be able to slide a lower window panel fully open. I think that covers it, and my apologies that web-forms don't let you incorporate paragraphs.
