So this is an interesting game console. On the one hand, there are no licensed games on it so if you're looking for old school Mario or Sonic or what-have-you, you'll need to look elsewhere. I think that is to their credit, though it's not like we were all lining up to find new NES-style games. That said, they are legit games and generally playable (though I admit I've not checked all 100 of them) especially by the wee ones. So if you're looking for something affordable to hand a kid for a long car trip, this isn't a bad place to start. It's also interesting that the instructions clearly say that the A/V port will NOT hook up to the TV and that that particular spot is for "future use." I'm not sure exactly what this means--will they be confiscating my device at some point and upgrading it? Will I have to upgrade it myself? Will televisions change? What is happening here? This is a really fun little handheld system for kids or adults looking for that throwback feeling. This has the old 16 bit game look and play. With 100 programmed games there is something for everyone. There are racing games, fantasy RPG style, action, and a lot more. The games are fun and easy to play. Similar to some very familiar games from the days of Atari and Nintendo. This is rechargeable, so parents relax, it will not kill your wallet with constant battery replacements. This is great for road trips and other times you need a little or long term distraction for the children. This is a good price and the device seems sturdy and well made, although it should still be protected from any large bangs and falls. Starting off with the good. The device does work, and does have 100 games on it (though you probably have to have a loose definition of what game means). The screen is nice and bright and backlit. Also, the games aren't using stolen IP and seem to be original (not the mechanics or anything, there's no new ground tread here, but at least they're not stolen). Honestly if this was $20, I'd say, it's great for kids if you're looking for something to distract them and for some reason don't want to give them a phone or a real system. The games are very VERY bare bones. Minimal mechanics with loose controls. There's a couple as I browsed through that I would willingly play again, so I would consider that a win. The device doesn't feel really well made, but not very poor either just so-so. It charges well and quickly, and the buttons all at least work, though there's some minimal sticking here and there. The sound also doens't seem to really honor the volume dial fully. I mean it does silence, but there's clicks and squeeks that come through as you change games or move around a bit (not the end of the world, but minorly annoying). It all adds up to a lot of little annoyances on top of a poor device to begin with, with no expansion or anything. I'd move on for this price. I recently acquired this handheld game toy for my kids, and overall, I'm quite pleased with it. The gaming device is basically a knock-off of old 16-bit games. Some are similar to games like Puzzle Bubble and some are kinda of fun. The controls are a bit weird for each game and there are no instructions. I could see a kid being amused for a short while but will get bored with the games and small screen pretty quickly as there are more impressive cellphone games. Also, the device is pretty small. If had classic games on it with intuitive controls or at least reprogrammable ones then perhaps it would be more useable. But most of the games are pretty boring even for kids. Most also seem to be pretty generic with just two buttons. They aren't even as fun as a typical NES game. The graphics are not bad for such a small device and the sound is pretty good. But overall it is just a cheap gaming device with public domain knockoffs. So I wouldn't really recommend it. Takes about 2 hours to charge and then you can play for 4-5 hours but I don't see why anyone would want to. Says it comes with 100 games, which it might, I did do a full count as most were not interesting. I would skip this one not worth 36 bucks. For that price, you can get much better retro gaming stuff. I mean for 12 bucks more you can get a Super Mario or Zelda game and watch that is more fun to play despite only being 1 game and much more worth the money. ... show more

I'm purchased others from Amazon and they do work and satisfy that urge to play the older games or at least expose my son to the old games. This is just a very inexpensively made handheld device.
