I purchased this toy in anticipation of it being a Christmas gift for my 3.5 yo son. To my surprise, when he opened it over a month after I purchased it, it had maintained the original charge. <It was READY right out of the package!! BONUS!!> We received a shiny blue one. The family loves this little “alien ship”. It reminds me of one the little aliens from BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED (1987): so cute!! It zooms around the room quickly and hovers or rises independently. Lately, it’s been finding our stairwell and going for a short adventure. Despite crashing or being handled by the kids, there has been no damage. It recharges quickly even though the battery dies within 10 minutes, or so. Seemingly, that is the standard for toys like this, as we have other similar toys that last for a short period of time. Easily, it switches off the propellers by being flipped over. (Great feature!!)     • Stupid fun, but short battery life
This thing is way more fun than I thought it would be. The motors are a little noisy, but I've never had a drone or anything to compare it to. It does drive my dog crazy though. Battery life is super short. You only get about 10 minutes of run time on a full charge. That being said, it's actually a lot of fun. The sensors work really well so just placing your hand in its path sends it the opposite direction. You can also wave under it to make it climb. We kind of play "catch" back and forth while our 3 year old chases it around. It feels brittle, light weight plastic, but nothing has broken even after the 3 year old has slapped it out of the air on multiple occasions. If they could increase the battery life, this would get another star. ... show more

    • Lots of Fun!
I got this for my 11 year old son. Now, in all fairness, he is a bit rough with things. This has stood up to the test of him though! He loves running around the house playing with it. It is kind of hilarious to watch my puppy go nuts trying to get to it. The drone is very easy to charge and my son does it all by himself. The drone is surprisingly more durable than it looks. The only drawback I've noticed is that I wish that battery life would be a little longer. Would recommend! ... show more

    • The only UFO you'd like in your home
We had bought my son this for his birthday and then great minds think alike, my mom bought him a similar orb like floating toy. We actually had a bad experience with that one in which it floated away and ended up in a far neighbor's yard. It didn't make us too excited about it. But we decided to try this one indoors to see if it was any better. Out of the box it only charged for about 10 minutes (the booklet said normally 40 minutes, probably if it is completely dead). There is an on/off button you press under the UFO and the lights turn on. With one press of the remote the propellers inside turn on and it lifts up on its own. It does a pretty good job and shifting in mid air back and forth and isn't as sporadic or sensitive as the previously mentioned toy. If you press the button again, the UFO lowers itself back down to the ground. It works very easy. My only concern is that the plastic that it is made of seems a little flimsy and so I hope it never bumps into anything hard for fear it might crack. It's also very loud (although again, we are indoors). But all in all, my 7 year old thinks it's really cool and Mom and Dad don't mind playing with it too hehe. ... show more

My 7-year-old received a UFO drone for Christmas from his grandfather and LOVED it. A few days later we got this one - and it's even better! PROS: Simple directions - the drone was up and running minutes after my 7-year-old opened it. Battery charges with a micro-usb port - no need to remove batteries! Remote Control allows for remote stop/landing of the drone if it flies too high (which often happens with my 4-foot son and 10-foot ceilings!). Kid friendly design - flexible outer shell allows for moderate collisions without damage. CONS: Short battery life. That being said, my sons first UFO drone ran for 3 minutes between charges, this one lasts closer to 7 minutes. Outer box directions confusing. Bypass these and look for the paper directions inside. Loud motor/blades. Not bad for a drone, but loud for a toy meant to be used indoors. Overall, this is a great toy that my son LOVES. The whole family has gotten in on the fun. ... show more

    • Will not last even five days!
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! I bought this for my son and he has played with it maybe 5 times and one of the four motors is already burnt out. He is in tears trying to get me to fix it but the motor smells like a burnt out motor and will not work. The other three motors work fine, but unfortunately each little motor powers it’s own propeller so now it can’t fly at all. ... show more

MY WHOLE FAMILY ENJOYS PLAYING WITH THIS DRONE. YOU JUST TURN IT ON AND THROW IT UP AND IT STARTS HOVERING. IT HAS SENSORS SO WHEN YOU MOVE YOUR HAND TOWARDS IT IT MOVES AWAY. IT HAS A LIGHT SO YOU CAN USE IT IN THE DARK/ WE USE IT BY PUSHING IT BACK AND FORTH LIKE PLAYING CATCH BUT YOU DON;T ACTUALLY TOUCH IT. IT LASTS ABOUT 10 MINUTES ON A CHARGE OF 40 MINUTES.     • Tie a string to it and it's the best cat toy ever invented
I tied a 6 foot ribbon to the bottom of this and periodically chuck it near the cats to give them exercise. it's control software is smart enough to avoid hitting walls, the ceiling, and the ground, and it randomly chooses new directions. As long as it's 3 or more feet off the ground the cats chase the ribbon, but it if ever zooms right up to cat eye level it's loud enough to spook them. The protective bubble prevents them from stinging themselves if they ever swat at it, and I'm hopeful that one day they'll develop the skills to actually catch it. Its one drawback is that it completely shuts off if it bangs a wall too hard, thus I have to keep picking it up and chucking it again and again. ... show more
