The media could not be loaded. What sets this notebook apart from most other are the page markings that allow then to be scanned by the Scribzee app. That app stores the scanned pages, allows you to organize them into folders, and after a day or two provides the ability to do text searches on your handwritten entries. Disregarding those marks, this becomes a low-cost notebook with thin, flimsy feeling paper. That paper works OK with ball point pens and pencils, not so much with fountain pens. My go to notebook is and has been for years has been Black and Red Notebooks. I was delighted to learn that they make a version, the Black n' Red Notebook with the same special marks that works just as well with the Scribzee app. The difference is that everything about these notebooks is higher quality and their price reflects it. My recommendation is if plan on writing something down to scan it in then the Hamelin notebooks provide a cost-effective option. However, if you also appreciate paper quality and don’t mind spending a little extra then Black and Red might be a better choice. If you watch the video carefully you may notice some “phantom writing” on the blank page used in the description. That’s because it used to be covered with the storyboard for this review. I used PILOT FriXion Clicker sGel Ink Pens to write the storyboard and then erased the page with a Heat Gun before making the video. Turns out that’s a convenient way to turn any piece of paper into a whiteboard.

If you are looking for something better than the supermarket/discount store spiral notebooks, here they are. I have had to use spiral notebooks while WFH this past year, so I have tried several brands from the local sources. Finding a made in USA spiral notebook is nearly impossible, so at least these are made in the West. The paper is smooth and calendered and the line ink is water-resistant, unlike the cheapo brands. A casual spill of liquid will run off the paper. The microperf edge is clean, just hold the spiral side down as you gently pull. My only wish for this is that could be available with a hard back to support it while in an airline seat or at a crowded desk..

I really liked Hamelin notebooks when they first came out. At that time, they only had hardcover notebooks. Those were great. I was hoping these flexible notebooks would be the same, but with a different cover. That is not the case. It seems they decided to cheap out on the paper when they decided to go with the cheaper flexible covers. I enjoyed writing in the hardcover notebooks. My pen would glide across the page. Writing in the flexible notebooks though is a drag. The paper is rough to write on. It does not spark joy, which is rather unfortunate.

Ya know for just a few dollars more you can have a notebook that doesn't suck, the paper is CLEARLY superior to whatever crap you pick up at the campus bookstore, and if you're going to be using your Facebook a few times a week for the next 4 months, might as well have a nice one.

These are very nice notebooks. With this pack you get three different colored notebooks. Each one has 70 sheets of college ruled paper. The paper easily tears out along the perforated line. It’s a thicker paper. To use their wording for you, it’s a “specially formulated OPTIK writing paper that reduces the risk of bleeding through”. So, if you are using ball point pens, pencils, even a good majority of felt tip and some markers it won’t bleed through so you can use both sides. I didn’t try every single kind of writing implement so I’m sure you can find something that will bleed through if you try but I didn’t find anything with what I used. These notebooks also come with an app possibly proving there really is an app for everything. The app is called SCRIBZEE and with this app you are able to scan, organize, edit ,search, email your notes, and more. You’ll always have your papers with you wherever you go because they will be on this free app that you scanned them to. I’m really a little jealous that they didn’t have this back in the days of having to write every single little tiny thing down, sometimes in triplicate. This sure would have come in handy! These really are good notebooks. Sturdy, nice thick paper that can handle a lot of different pens, and they have an app! The only thing I would say that would be a little downside if there is one would be that if you don’t need the app then you are spending almost $12 for just three notebooks. So, if you just need notebooks and aren’t concerned with using both sides or, as mentioned, the app you may want to pass and get something where you get more or just where you spend less for 3.
