  • I wanted to like it.
Platform For Display: Tablet Edition: Guitar Bundle
The game is OK. I wanted to like this game. I really did. But it just didn't happen. Aside from an occasional connectivity issue, the hardware itself is fine. Same quality level you expect from a Guitar Hero game. There are a few issues that made me not like (and eventually return) the game: -Game Center issues. Every 3-4 times I played, it would have trouble logging in to my Game Center account. It would then try to start a new game instead of loading my previous progress. Once it even deleted my progress altogether. -The game itself is not that fun. The ideas are interesting, but the execution is weak. The "first person" performances are pretty cheesy and occasionally don't match up with your actual performance. The "Live" mode is fine, but it's pay-to-play, otherwise you're stuck playing whatever randomly comes up. That model is very popular right now, but it's annoying. At the time I bought it, it was $99. Now it looks like it's down to about $35. I'd probably recommend it for $35, but only if you really love Guitar Hero games. ... show more

  • Great hardware and an improvement over past guitars. Downfall is the software if you have slow internet.
Platform For Display: Tablet Edition: Guitar Bundle
I really would like to give this 5 stars but I just can't. It's to no fault of the hardware but more so the game software. Every time I go to play a song I have to wait for it to download which is horrible when you have terribly slow internet in the middle of nowhere. If I had high speed then it wouldn't be as bad. I wasn't hoping the initial download which took all evening for me would include the songs but it didn't. I am running this on a 4th gen Apple TV and it works well and smooth once I get into the game. I really do like the new guitar with the fret layout too. Gives it more of a challenge and closer to a real feel of a guitar rather than just one row of strings like guitars past. ... show more

  • Great New Guitar!
Platform For Display: Tablet Edition: Guitar Bundle
I already owned this game for the Wii U but when I saw the iOS version for $17 I had to get it again. I love the new guitar. The new layout for the buttons makes it feel more like playing a real guitar. I was pretty good at the old GH/RB guitar but I have gotten pretty good on this one in only maybe 4 hrs of game time. I was playing most songs on expert on the old guitar and now I am doing advanced on most songs. The song selection is good but not as many songs as I would like. The saving grace for this game is the TV channels you can "watch" to play new songs. Not every song on the TV channels is great, but the variety is appreciated. The micro transactions in this game can be tempting. Basically you can pay to play songs of your choosing on the TV channels, or to unlock other appearance features. I haven't seent any extra money on this game but maybe if I was having a bunch of friends over that wanted to play the game I might put up $5-10 to get song selections. If you loved Rock Band or Guitar Hero, you have to give this game a chance. If you are new to the music game genre, you should also give this game a shot. You will feel like a guitar player without the annoyance of actually learning to play the actual instrument!! :P ... show more

  • Guitar is great; game is terrible
Platform For Display: Tablet Edition: Guitar Bundle
I'd read some good things about the game, so considering it's only about $25 for a guitar and the game to play it on my Apple TV, I thought what the heck. I'd ordered two, and when they arrived we were all excited. But while the guitars are well built and we like the new button configuration on the fret, the game itself left a lot to be desired. [Some of this information is available online, but it's not easy to find.] When you log in to the game, the second guitar player can ONLY play as GUEST (they can't log in to their own account or track their score, so what's the point?), they can only play exactly what you're playing (not like the console where one person can play lead guitar and one play bass), and they can't play the on-demand songs, only in GHTV. The problem with that last part is that I have yet to be able to get into GHTV. I've tried four times and each time it says the system is not working, please try again later. In essence, it's a single player game, which is NOT what Guitar Hero ever has been, and not what it should be. It certainly isn't advertised as single player. Even at the bargain price of $25 for each guitar, it was a total waste of my money. ... show more

Platform For Display: Tablet Edition: Guitar Bundle
It's a great idea to have this as a stand alone with the Apple TV (4th gen). I was excited when I saw that there was an App for Guitar Hero Live and quickly went over to Amazon to purchase this bundle. The guitar quality itself is much like it's predecessors; lightweight, flimsy plastic. The gameplay is nice, but the software is really buggy. IT has nothing to do with the guitar, but with the software. I'll complain to Activision on my own. Overall good product. I would buy only on sale. It's a nice update to the Guitar Hero franchise. ... show more

  • It's great on the iPad and iPhone
Platform For Display: Tablet Edition: Guitar Bundle
It's great on the iPad and iPhone, but for the Apple TV the game has so much lag it's unplayable at difficulties higher than normal. I would say, steer clear if you are planning on playing it on the Apple TV. Otherwise, it's great on the iPad and iPhone. Due to a recent update it has all of the features found in console and I'm sure they will keep adding the same new features that are added to consoles with time. ... show more

So awesome. Paired immeidately with our ATV 4 and you do not need to buy the game - it automatically gives up access. We've had fun and the new layout is cool. Good fun for the whole family!
