  • Well worth consideration
Color: Black
GROTE Guitar Solid Body Electric Guitar with Gig bag LPYS-006 (Black) This is the fourth Grote guitar for my collection, and I was very happily disappointed upon inspecting the guitar. I was all prepared to swap out the tuners, nut and strings, perform some fret work and do a full setup. Reality check, out of the box the binding, finish and hardware fitment were flawless. I tuned the guitar and the tuners worked fine, the string height at the nut was right-on (as low as possible), the neck had very slight and desired amount of out-bow, the action was set low, and the intonation was near perfect. The frets were shiny, the fretboard smooth and the over action high speed low drag. The only setup items requiring attention were raise the low E string 1/64" at the bridge and raise the bridge pickup 3/32". The pickups overall sound bright and the neck pickup measured 9.37K ohms @ 3.29H Henrys and the bridge 11.77K ohms @ 3.62H henrys. This guitar is well worth consideration given its price. ... show more

  • Fantastic guitar for the price
Color: Purple
I just got the purple color today and it's a beautiful guitar. The fit and finish is excellent on it, the purple color is a dark shade the photo I attached was taken outside in the daylight. It has a nice thick clear coat over it. The headstock is nice, in the photo I posted the Grote name and design are like a shimmery shell in the light that changes, I tried to get it in the photo. The tuners are smooth and keep tune so I'm fine with them. The nut seems Ok it's thick and seems substantial for tone. The fretboard is wonderful it has a smooth feel with absolutely no sharp edges on the frets. Nice style of inlays with the shimmering pearl like design. The guitar isn't too heavy or too light so I'm happy with the feel. Hardware is decent no complaints, the pickups are decent for me at least they sound good but that's always going to be subjective and up to the player to decide if they want better ones. The pots are smooth and responsive no static. Overall I'm very happy with the guitar and surprised in the great quality and features that I didn't know about until I got it so it was a pleasant surprise at the price point to get a really nice LP style guitar, I've had several but this one is the nicest overall by way far imo. I'm so impressed with the brand I may get another style. I will keep mine stock because I just play for my own hobby, but again it's up to the player if you want to modify things but it's more than good enough for me quality wise. Very happy with this Grote and even surprised by the details of quality, looks and features. ... show more

  • Beautiful
Color: TS
The Guitar Solid Body Electric Guitar with Gigbag LPYS-006 (TS) looks absolutely beautiful. I could not find a flaw in appearance. Its a two piece of Mahogany wood body, the neck and head also Mahogany. Fret board is Rosewood, very nice. Tuners work nicely, I wouldn't replace them they hold tune well. The strings not great, I replaced. The Nut appears to be Bone as I see grain lines in the side under direct sunlight. There is absolutely no fret bite at all, however the set-up was not so great. The neck had a bulge upwards in the middle as the truss rod adjustment was incorrect as well as string height to high. I removed the strings, adjusted the truss rod to where the neck was straight and installed new strings,(10s) Putting some string tension little by little adjusted the truss rod slightly. When I sight down the neck with strings tuned it looks very straight. Then lowered the saddle and string height. .060 height on the 1st and .065 on the 6th string. The two bridge post were loose but tightened up fine. Saddle post were tight but I lowered the action. The intonation on 6,5 &4 were close but the intonation on 3,2 &1 were quite far off, all needed adjustment but they came in nicely. The fret work was all flat and straight, once I straightened out the neck. Pick-ups sound pretty good to me and not microphonic. The pots or adjustment knobs seem to have a decent range, I am leaving them. The top of the guitars grain appears to be a high quality graphic print on a substrate and the same clear finish applied over it as the rest of the entire guitar, but it looks great. The grain pattern is 100% identical to the the ad photo. I lowered one star for for overall performance and one star for beginners as the factory set-up was poor and a beginner may of had issues playing it as it was. THIS Guitar has good bones!! and nothing other than the strings were replaced. It's a lot of guitar for the money!!! ... show more

  • Took a chance and...
Color: TS
I was skeptical & didn't need another guitar but grabbed the Lpys006-TS. Overall great purchase for the price. Fit & finish is impressive. You can tell the top is fake but that doesn't affect playability. Needed very little setup & plays well. For me the weak point is the electronics. The pickups are usable but I dropped a Pearly Gates in the neck & a Screamin' Demon in the bridge. It's a fantastic value as a beginners guitar, or a platform for upgrades. I'm using it as a backup stage guitar. For the money I would definitely recommend taking a look at this little guy. ... show more

  • Nice guitar, lots of fun.
Color: VS
The Guitar I got arrived in good condition, the shipping container was a pile of junk. I am surprised it arrived in one piece. However, it is a very nice looking Guitar. I cleaned up the Frets and set the Truss, changed the strings, and set up the action a little low. So far it seems to be doing well, it holds tuning well , looks beautiful. I'm by no means a pro at any of this, I just tried some basic adjustments and a good cleaning. It works and sounds great. I'm going to continue playing it in my garage, my 2024 comeback reunion, old guy tour got canceled 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Have fun everyone Rock on I'm going to change out the pickups ( Whole Lotta Humbuckers ). ... show more
