Description

Size:Paint Clay 8oz Griot's Garage 11153 Cleaner, Detailing Clay, 8 fluid oz., Each. G05-11153 Description:Regardless of how clean you think your paint is, there are still contaminants stuck on the paint that you need to remove before waxing or polishing your paint. Paint Cleaning Clay leaves behind an ultra-smooth surface that will make your wax adhere better and last longer, too. It also makes the wax much easier to buff out, reducing your "elbow grease" substantially. Clay is safe for all paint and also works great on glass to get it squeaky clean. To use, just remove the clay from the wrapper, spray the paint's surface with Speed Shine® (acts as a lubricating fluid), and rub the clay back and forth until there is no drag. This means your paint is clean! Unlike other cleaners and polishes, no buffing or hard circular motions are necessary. Takes literally one fourth the time as it would using paint cleaner! Follow up with Best of Show Wax® and your paint will look stunning! The large 8 ounce (226 gram) bar cleans about 7 vehicles, depending on the amount of contamination your surface is covered with. Richard Griot urges you to try this clay. The results are amazing!

  • Best price I've found for what I now consider a requirement for properly cleaning the car
Size: Paint Clay 8oz
They say a car is the second biggest expense in life, after your home (I guess whoever said that didn't have kids); regardless, it's up there. So, it stands to reason we spend a fair amount on maintenance. And, who wants to spend time going places in a dirty vehicle? I've owned probably 20 vehicles in the years I've been driving; everything from a '65 Rambler to a '67 VW Camper to a '97 VW Camper; an '82 (?) Vespa P200E to an '85 Mercedes wagon and an '85 Mercedes 300D turbo diesel sedan; a '73 BMW 2002 to an '01 E46 M3, etc., etc., etc. I've always enjoyed washing my vehicles by hand, safe in the knowledge I was doing it correctly and thoroughly. Boy, was I wrong. OK, I wasn't doing anything wrong, per se. But, I was certainly missing a step. And, after having just used this clay bar for the first time on my current car, I can say it was a HUGE step. Normally I'd do the whole wash, dry, wax, buff process and at the end of it I could stand back and think "ya, that looks good"... Little did I know how much better all those cars could have looked for all those years had I known about these clay bars. I mean, really- it's night and day. The amount of stuff I removed from the paint with just a small amount (maybe 20% of the product in this container) of this clay was shocking. It was mostly stuff I couldn't see, but could feel. Not only did the finish go from sorta 'bumpy' after a car wash to totally smooth (so smooth, in fact, that the car cover is now difficult to put on because unless it's perfectly centered on the car it'll skip off as I'm trying to unfold it) but now the paint looks super clean; the color is sharper and somehow richer. It's just amazing. I can't say enough good things about using clay on your car. Take the time and clay your car. You will not be disappointed. Unless you can run your hand over the paint on your car and have it feel as smooth as silk, you need to clay your car. It's a game changer. ... show more

  • Worth the Price for the Quantity in the Container
Size: Paint Clay 8oz
If you are new to clay cleaning for painted surfaces it is all about getting contamination that you can not see but can feel out of the paint job. The idea is to use a lubricant to help with the process and avoid scratching the paint with the clay. Kits for this purpose have been around for a long time and I have tried many of them. This item is just the clay instead of a kit but it is superior to a kit because there is enough clay to last a long time assuming the container is air tight and will not allow the moisture in the clay to escape. The clay is no better or worse than other brands like Clay Magic or Mother's Clay. However, with this you do not pay for accessories like finishing cloths that come in the kits but are very low quality and end up in the trash without having been used. More likely than not this is the most clay a retail customer can buy in one package; very good. My suggestion for superior results with this item and your finish is to buy a large bottle of Meguiar's Quick Detailer to use as a lubricant(much cheaper than Griot's lubricant). Use microfiber cloths to wipe up the lubricant as you go. Then follow up with a coat of Meguiar's Gold Class Paste (polymer) wax and clean up excess wax with a 100% cotton finishing cloth. I have used many brands of wax and the aforementioned is the most durable one I have seen on the market. Griot's offers some products that are superior in quality but the majority of them are similar to others on the market. Why pay for fancy packaging you end up throwing out anyway? Make sure your car is washed and clean before you start the clay process. If you remember just one thing from what I wrote; buy this item for the quantity (outstanding) and not the quality (average). ... show more

  • Good deal for clay. Rubber gloves helpful, but not necessary.
Good deal for clay and some of the Speed Shine + microfiber towels. I used this along with some of the Griot's one-step sealant on my 4Runner last weekend. The clay did a great job of removing a couple years of caked on gunk, leaving the paint glass-smooth prior to the wax. The photo attached is the finish of the driver's side after clay and sealant. While the rubber gloves aren't necessary to apply the claybar, I found them helpful for holding on to the clay. Other times I've applied clay I always end up accidentally dropping the clay on the ground (and having to throw away that piece and start with a new piece). The clay sticks pretty well to the rubber gloves, so I made it through with a couple pieces of clay, didn't drop any on the ground. Looking forward to using this and the sealant on my other car. ... show more

  • I've Been Doing It All Wrong Until Now
Size: Paint Cleaning Kit
Clay barring is something I have not done in the past and now I wish I had. I keep my cars really clean but I overlooked that a car wash leaves behind tons of contaminants no matter how thorough you are. My cars seemed "squeaky clean" but were far from it. I watched a Griot's video and learned you can feel the contaminants if you gently rub the paint with a sandwich or freezer bag wrapped over your hand. What felt smooth with my fingers was noticeable with the plastic bag. I clay barred two of my vehicles and it felt waxy smooth to the point where it almost felt waxed. I didn't need a polish so I went on and used the same brand's three in one ceramic wax spray. The results exceeded my idea of perfect. If you don't clay bar your car, it's easy. Watch a video and you can get all the details. I don't say this often: Two thumbs up. Five Stars, Just Buy It. ... show more
