  • The only glass sealant I will use
I have tried nearly every glass sealant around from RainX, to Aquapel, to Fly by 30, to Optimum and I prefer Griots Glass sealant for its longevity, performance, and ease of application. The trick to making this work is a clean windshield (I mean really clean your windshield 2-3 times with a quality glass cleaner) and proper application. Here is my process and it works well and lasts 4-6 months: apply a liberal amount of Griot's sealant to a clean microfiber towel and wipe it horizontally across the windshield until the whole windshield is covered. Immediately apply a little more sealant to your towel and apply a second coat vertically to the entire windshield (you are cross hatching). Now you need to let the product dry for 5-20 minutes. Once the product is dry you need to apply a second application in the exact same manner you did the first (cross hathching). After the second application wait another 5-10 minutes and then buff off the hazed sealant with a clean microfiber cloth. If you are having problemsbuffing the sealant you can lightl dampen your towel and it will make the buffing process much easier. Follow these steps and you will have water flying off your windshield at speeds over 35 mph for the next 4-6 months on non-garaged daily drivers. Like most detailing products, 90% of the products success is based on preparation and application. Apply Griot's Glass sealant correctly and you will not be disappointed in its peforrmance and durability. ... show more

Phenomenal product. However, i have read some reviews from people claiming they now have windshield wiper chatter. Well guess what? You didn't follow directions. Here's how to properly use this product: Wash car (windows) Dry windows thoroughly. Use glass clay (glass clay only), make sure you use a lubricant while using the clay. Dry thoroughly Use glass polish (let polish come to haze, buff off) Use alcohol or your standard window cleaner (at this point when you run water over window it should sheet over the glass, not bead up like a wax) Use the sealant (follow directions) I followed up w aquapel which really is a waste because the sealant does the same thing. But hey why not. My wipers do not chatter, but i also dont need to use them. The water literally beads off at 25mph in the rain. And i live in SW Fl where it rains heavy everyday. This is an A+ product when used correctly. Makes rainx a thing of the past. ... show more

  • Does the job....short term
I think a lot of people have tried this type of glass sealer / rain repellant at some point so I'll stick to a few key notes. How this differs from Rain-X is really in the failure, All products, no matter how "top of the line" they are will fail at some point; even ceramic coatings. As a auto detailer, I find this blend to be much cleaner then Rain-x. What I mean by that is when the time comes and the product fails, Griots Glass Sealant just stops working. Rain-X on the other hand, breaks down and leaves behind a greasy film. This film causes wiper blades to chatter and squeak across the glass. Also, the film creates bad night glare; I didn't get this with the Griots. Just as important to note: always clean off your wiper blades. Your wiper blades will also scrape up and collect oils, dirt. bug guts and anything else stuck to your windshield. If you clean your glass, apply this sealant and don't clean the wiper blades, you are reintroducing the same oils and trash back to your freshly coated glass. It then looks as if the glass sealant isn't doing it's job when actually it is. If you are looking for a low cost, entry level glass sealant / rain repellant Griots is a great choice. My only gripes would be the lack of durability (few weeks) and leaking bottle tops from time to time. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Love this stuff
We use this on our shower door - it lasts for a good month before I have to reapply. But it helps to keep the glass door from getting water spots. Arizona has really hard water and even though we use a squeegee its hard to prevent water spots. This stuff helps a lot!

  • rainX at 3x the price
I have been using rainX regularly for quite some time now. I wanted something that lasts longer so I do not have to reapply it so often. If it safes me time - I do not mind paying more for the product. As everybody - I read all the glowing reviews and purchased this one. Turn out I can not tell the difference in longevity between this and rainX from my local department store. Of course I followed the instructions to the letter. Wasted money. ... show more

  • Left a milky white haze on my RV windows
I'll preface this by saying that my RV has gold-tinted windows from the factory, which make dried water streaks really stand out. I purchased this product hoping to eliminate the water build-up and hence the streaking. Maybe it's not intended for certain types of windows but I figured hey, glass is glass. I first cleaned the surface, then prepped it using their glass cleaning clay. I applied the sealant exactly as instructed. The final step is polishing the window by wiping it with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. It left a milky white haze that would NOT come off no matter how hard I rubbed. And the haze looked as bad as the streaks. After 5 minutes of hard rubbing with no improvement I gave up and removed it with glass cleaner. I can't comment on its effectiveness as a sealant because it looked so ugly I had to take it off. Which also makes me wonder, if it came off so easily with glass cleaner, how good of a sealant is it anyway? Again, for the record I did not use it on auto glass, so take this review for what it's worth. ... show more
