  • Defective Strap Buckle Assembly
Color: Tiger/Moonmist Size: Short
I'm gearing up for a 4-day hike in the Sierras including Mt. Whitney, and ultralight is key to making it possible. This backpack is one of two that I'm aware of in the 1-pound weight category with 45liter capacity (Mount Laurel designs Exodus is the other). They achieve this by being frame-less - you need a sleeping pad on the inside against your back to make it comfortable. Amazon shipped the last one in my size and it was defective: the adjustments for the shoulder strap lengths slipped when there was any load on them until the back was as low as it could go, somewhere below my butt. The problem was that the webbing was routed incorrectly through the ladder-stops (buckles) and it could not be corrected because the ends of the webbing were doubled over and sewed. In the picture, the moving loop should go around the bar in the center of the buckle, not one it's around. One star off for that. Granite gear offered to repair it if I shipped it to them at my expense. That's poor customer service: shipping a replacement and a return label for the defective one would have been OK. Another star off for that. I returned it to Amazon at their expense. I was motivated to search for a replacement from another company, but nothing could match the specs. I ordered the same thing again elsewhere. ... show more

  • Served its purpose well
Color: Tiger/Moonmist Size: Long
I took this on a trip to Yosemite to hike El Capitan (24+ continuous miles on this route) carrying more than 30lbs of gear and supplies. Pros: -chest and waist straps worked well and reduced weight on shoulders and back -had plenty of room for gear, 2L water reservoir, food -has plenty of straps and elastic pouches to attach things to the outside, add storage or compact your pack job -compartments are easy to access -plenty of storage space for a backpacking trip -when used for a car-camping trip this easily housed 2x sleeping bags (full-size), 2x sleeping mats (backpackable), NorthFace tent (backpackable), an electronic lantern, LifeStraw, Sunscreen, coffee-making stuff, a couple of beach towels, and a few other misc. items VERY USEFUL Cons: -no amount of engineering can make a consecutive 24hr hike with 30lbs+ gear comfortable. full stop. -it would be nice to have a velcro management system for excess strap lengths on the exterior of the pack. A very small and mostly unnecessary improvement. ... show more

  • Worked great until the backpack became wet
Color: Tiger/Moonmist Size: Long
Under thirty miles on backpack. First real rain hike shoulder strap came apart. Had to tie down to outside webbing which held up for another thirty miles? How is that possible. Was under weight when it broke, maybe not with the wet tent the next day but the tie down worked...I don’t think they rate the weight correctly for a wet backpack. They never responded to emails. I guess I have to move on a to another company. Considering what I paid I hope I can find another use for it. ... show more

  • Should strap broke up during first trip
Color: Tiger/Moonmist Size: Short
Overall I liked this backpack when I received it, It’s light weighted, have all the features and it’s nicely designed. But it became such a disappointment when the left strap broke up during my first backpacking trip. I had hoped the quality would be better

  • Great ultralight pack
Color: Tiger/Moonmist Size: Regular
I replaced a 4 lb framed pack with this. This is my first frameless pack and I was nervous but I have LOVED it. I bought some other ultralight gear at the same time so now my pack weight about 15 lbs for a 2-3 day trip. (assuming you can filter water along the way). The straps on the outside work great for securing the tent and trekking poles to the bag. I am 5'7" and the Regular size has been very comfortable for me. I haven't had any sore spots. Your back will probably get hot and you have to pay attention to what to pack against your back but that seems a universal problem with frameless. ... show more

  • well made-very light
Color: Tiger/Moonmist Size: Regular
Wow, love this pack! Just used on a three day backpack and was very impressed. Very comfortable if not overloaded. My total pack weight was 23 lbs. I could pack a weeks worth of supplies in this pack if I was careful. The pack is very well made and simple, and is actually 1 ounce lighter than z-packs arc blast. Although it is not waterproof and has no frame, but wow is it light! 1lb,3oz according to my kitchen scale. buy it , you wont be sorry. ... show more

  • Well worth the cost
Color: Tiger/Moonmist Size: Long
Great quality in an affordable ultralight backpack...plenty of room ....outside pocket is not designed the best as for accessibility ,could use a pocket on the waist belt and the padding is adequate for a 20lb load ..but it's well worth the price ..if you're looking to reduce your pack weight or just looking for an affordable entry level ultralight pack this is the one you need... ... show more

  • 4 star for over 30lbs; 5 star for around 25lbs.
Color: Tiger/Moonmist Size: Regular
Very lightweight; easy to pack; carries around 23 to 25 lbs really well per shoulders and hips. True to the marketing and specs on the product. Took it for 5 day backpack trip and lightest I could muster was 31 lbs. Backpack was just fine, but at 31lbs, the shoulder straps are a little thin. Side pockets are great for getting to stuff you need on the trail. I am happy w my purchase and will take on future trips. ... show more
