It is as expected. Pirate shirts are supposed to be loose fitting. So for women order them a size or two smaller than your regular size. I’m usually M in regular shirts but I order XS. It fits just right. The fabric is light and flowy. It is a bit see through but I wear a black velvet vest with it. The details on the shirt are very authentic. Size: Medium Color: A-white01 Without Belt
This is definitely a real shirt, not the itchy, shiny stuff that costume stores sell. Like most reviews say it fits very loose and you might want to go down a size or two depending on how baggy you want it. I usually wear a men's large or a women's XL, so I ordered a medium. It is still loose, but I feel in a flattering way. It is also longer in the back than the front. The eyelets(where the string goes through) are not sharp AT ALL and can sit on your bare skin comfortably, and the string to cinch the shirt at the neckline works. Be advised though that the material of the shirt is thin and see-through for the white shirts. A corset, thick belt, vest, or scarf is a nice accessory for it if you feel the need to cover up more. If you get a shirt with the ruffled sleeves they can be a bit of a hassle to work with, but the elastic that cinches the sleeves feels comfortable if you pull the sleeves up to your elbows. The sleeves are large and do not cinch around the armpit, allowing for plenty of airflow if you're afraid of sweat stains. It is perfect for summer ren fairs, or perfect underneath a proper pirate coat for colder months. Very soft material that allows for free range of movement, like sword fighting as a true scallywag 😉 I'll probably buy another one in black when the opportunity presents itself. ... show more

My boyfriend usually wears a size XXL and following the description sizes we ordered the MEDIUM which was perfect! even at that this is shirt with a lot of fabric, very oversized and loose. He's new to dressing in costume and he dressed as a pirate in black jeans, a big black pirate hat and this shirt. We also ordered this in white which was delivered a few days apart from the black and is a slightly different weave of fabric and a little sheerer. I'm 5'9", 130lbs, Medium shirt and pant size 30×30. Debated back and forth about getting a small or medium, and settled on the small. The small was more than loose enough especially in sleeves. Despite all the excess fabric, it didn't bunch uncomfortably underneath the form fitting stay. It is lightweight and slightly sheer. We expected it to be large, as my hubby is very skinny and doesn't fit the "average adult male size". It's very thin and see through but to us that's fine. Love the product especially for super hot summer renn faires.
