Great simple cotton dress. Good for several time periods by changing accessories. Good value for the price. I used it for colonial and pirate. Lace back is comfortable and adjustable. Would be perfect without zipper. I wear a corset & proper underclothes to make it more historically accurate. Layers help make it look more in period. I added chemise and underskirts in contrasting colors. Original garment is one piece. The elastic panel in the back laces will bunch up if you don’t have help to smooth the back out. I originally ordered a size 14 based on the measurement guide that was provided. I am 5'1", weigh 138 lbs and according to the chart, even the sz 14 was going to be a bit tight. When it arrived it was too big even with the ties completely laced up. I ordered a sz 10 & kept the sz 14 in case the sz 10 was too tight, but it fit perfectly, excluding the length. It was too long, but this is something I always expect & I understand the reason the length is long. I'll return the sz 14. It also has a hidden zipper on the side which helps with a good fit. It is a lovely fabric, in color & texture, the fischu looks like linen, & the hat stays on nicely. If you are looking for a colonial outfit that looks like a colonial outfit even if it isn't quite true historically, this is the outfit for you. Amazed by the wonderful quality of workmanship and fabric. Spring and summer weight. Falls beautifully with a hoop slip. Back has cross- laces and an elastic back neck so, if it’s either too loose or too tight, the dress fits many different shapes. I wear a 14 (5’6” 175) and the 14 is just right. The cap and fishue is also very well made. Fabrics used to make the accessories was an unexpected surprise. Again, very good quality. G’Daughter put it on. This dress is well made and excellent quality. I am 5’8 1/2 and 165 lbs. I am normally a size 12/14. The length is perfect. I ordered an 18 fearing that it would run small. I should have ordered the 14. This dress is more true to size. The 18 is a little big and fits more like a 16, but it will work fine with a little alteration. That is my fault. I have ordered a few other costumes from Amazon and they tend to run small. It is easier to take up than let out. I plan to wear this for Halloween at work, but later use it for a DAR event. ... show more

This is a perfect inexpensive costume for a July 4 skit that includes Betsy Ross. I am 5’3” and the skirt length hits the top of my foot so I don’t have to hem it. This was purchased for our 4th of July parade, along with a Bestey Ross flag. This costume was beautifully made. The sizes do run a little larger. I bought this for my daughter who normally wears a medium 6/8. The medium was a size 10 and large. It does have a nice corset ties in the back, so we were able to make it work for our event. The material is thicker and heavy. I give it a 3 just due to the sizing charts, but a 5 for everything else. ... show more

Ordered this for a colonial costume. I’m 5’3”, 180 lbs and ordered size 18, which is too big on me and way too long. I ordered this size because sometimes the fabric on these costumes is not very stretchy and I didn’t want to be uncomfortable. I can make it work, due to the fact that it has lacing in the back, which I did not know when I ordered. It also has a side zipper which is great. The fabric is cotton, but has a nice feel to it.
