When I was a young boy, my parents were in love with Sanibel Island, FL. Once a year we would trek down from the Land of Lincoln to the Sunshine State to stay at the now defunct Mitchell's Sand Castles cabins on the beach. The highlight of any trip was during the overnight hours when a mother sea turtle would venture up onto the beach to lay her eggs. Seemed like the whole island would suddenly show up out of nowhere for the event before she would lumber down to the waterline again. Wonderful memories. So naturally when I saw this “blue turtle” on Amazon, nostalgia kicked in and I had to have it. It arrived yesterday. We have several metal animal and insect specimens hung tastefully (I hope) in groupings on the privacy fence around our pool and if anyone ever deserved a place of honor, it would be this large tortoise. The seller indicates that she is 15.7 inches long, but from back right foot to tip of her nose is actually 17 inches. The photo on the Product Page really does it justice. It captures the way the colors blend to create a nice representation of a terrapin. In addition the face actually possesses a bit of personality. The iron body has a powder coating that will stop or at least delay rust and other weather related conditions allowing you to enjoy your turtle for many seasons to come. There are two holes in the body and two screws and anchors for easy hanging plus a sheet of padded double sided sticky dots with which to affix to a interior surface. Being iron it is very sturdy and yet not too heavy. I should note that while ours will definitely go outside, it would be equally at home anywhere in a house. Especially if you should happen to have a nautically themed area. If I have one minor “complaint” it is that the metal has no dimensional effect. It's pure 2D. This is our first specimen without a stamped texture or relief in which three-dimensional elements are raised from the flat base. Don't get me wrong, I am not going to loose sleep over it, but the shell's scutes would have lent themselves so perfectly to the process. Over all I would have to call this a successful entry into the metal animal wall art category, and am assigning her 5 Stars. ... show more

This large mental Sea Turtle wall decor is cute, colorful, and very lifelike. Can be used indoors or outdoors. It goes well with a seaside or coastal themed decor. The size is nice for a small wall area that needs sprucing up. It’s rather thin and light weight, not real sturdy, so I’m not sure how it would handle high winds if hung outdoors. bright and vivid. the colors in person match the colors in the photos perfectly. i put it above my shower so its visible in the shower...idk why... shower, water, ocean? i guess just associative-esque decorating. all in all, i can't really say anything else about this. its a metal thing that hangs on a wall...its kinda hard to not get 5 stars in that scenario. ... show more
