  • Wide diameter of use, compatible with many materials.
Size: 1/4"-2"
Solidly built, able to handle a wide variety of tubing materials and diameters, this tubing cutter should last a long time. This pipe cutter successfully handled cutting 1/2" schedule 40 PVC and 1-1/2" schedule 80 CPVC without a problem. I was also easily able to cut both one-inch and half-inch EMT conduit. All edges were smooth and only needed minimal sanding to remove the slight bur found with these types of cutters. Quarter-inch copper tubing also cut cleanly without crimping, although the tool was somewhat difficult to handle and not really meant to be used with such small diameters of soft tubing. The one exception to easy cutting was with the thin plastic pipe used for drain lines used under sinks and their fittings. This type of pipe's thin walls allows the tool to distort the pipe preventing compression by the cutting wheel. The very fine threads of the screw means that you can easily control the depth of cut, but it also means that it requires many revolutions to change tubing sizes for the cutter. The six bearings keeps the blade aligned with the tubing, and prevents threading of the pipe. ... show more

  • Excellent Copper Pipe Cutter, but Limited Use for DIYers Excellent Copper Pipe Cutter, but Limited Use for DIYers
Size: 1/4"-2"
From a DIY perspective, this is a solid but somewhat niche tool. Unless you do plumbing work often, you probably won’t use it very frequently. That said, it delivers excellent results when you do need it. Build Quality: The cutter feels very sturdy and well-made. It’s clearly a quality tool with thoughtful construction and smooth operation. I can see the tool lasting a long time, although I don't know where you find replacement blades, this tool seems too new to have parts available. Performance: I used it on copper pipe while finishing a basement bathroom, specifically trimming a tub faucet pipe. It worked extremely well—tighten, rotate, and it cut cleanly with very little effort. The cut was straight, smooth, and required minimal cleanup, which is a big advantage over snips or cheaper cutters. As a DIYer, it made the job much easier and more precise. Pipe Compatibility: This cutter works great on copper (and likely aluminum), but it’s not suitable for thin or flexible pipes. Despite the listing, it did not work well on PVC/ABS sink plumbing (like P-traps). The pipe flexes and deforms before the blade can cut through. It may work on thicker, rigid PVC (such as sprinkler pipe), but not standard sink drain pipe in a bathroom or kitchen. As expected, it also does not work on PEX tubing. Ease of Use / Instructions: One downside is that there are no instructions included. The basic concept is obvious, but guidance on how much to tighten initially and during cutting would be helpful, especially for first-time users. Value: The biggest question is price. For occasional DIY use, it’s expensive for how infrequently most homeowners will need it. However, if you value clean, straight cuts with minimal effort—and don’t want to fight with cheaper tools—it may be worth it. For my DIY case, I'm not sure when I would ever use this tool again, I don't see myself cutting copper or aluminum pipes in the near future. Overall: High-quality, well-built pipe cutter that performs exceptionally well on copper. Not very versatile for common household plumbing plastics, and pricey for occasional use, but excellent at what it’s designed to do. ... show more

  • Does not cut PVC
Size: 1/4"-2"
Works well for ferrous and non-ferrous metals but does not cut PVC like the description says. Even the card that comes in the packaging says it's meant to only cut aluminum and copper. The blade itself is not sharp enough for a soft material like PVC or PEX.

  • Outstanding quality, easy to use pipe cutter.
Size: 1/4"-2"
This is my review of the Goldblatt Copper Pipe Cutter, 1/4"-2" Conduit Cutter, CSST Tubing Cutter for Copper, Stainless Steel, Brass, Thin-Wall Aluminum, PVC Pipes, Smooth Cutting Pipe Cutter Tool for Plumbing, HVAC Work, for 1/4" - 2" pipe. This is an excellent, heavily built rotary pipe cutter. It has 6 small wheels with excellent bearings, so the pipe spins smoothly and doesn't crimp, and features a 58-62 HRC hardened steel cutting wheel. I would have liked to have had the cutting wheel made out of an alloy that was also hard enough to cut steel pipes, but I knew when ordering it that it was for copper, aluminum, and PVC pipe only. Its frame is certainly sturdy enough to have cut steel conduit, for instance, if the cutting wheel had been up to it. It would likely cut steel, but that could greatly shorten the life of the cutting wheel. I am very pleased with the quality and build of this pipe cutter. It doesn't come with instructions, so if you've never used one of these before, just place it around the pipe to be cut and tighten it down lightly. Then spin it around, tightening the cutter slowly as you turn it until it has cut through the pipe. It came with a small card with a QR code that links to the manufacturer's website. I followed the link on my phone, but this pipe cutter is not in their product catalog or anywhere on the website, as it is a new tool the company is introducing. I am sure replacement cutter wheels can be ordered if needed; just email them. Goldblatt is a Kansas-based company, and its tools appear to be made either entirely or mostly in the U.S.A. Their company manufactures high-quality contractor tools and has been in business since 1855. I ordered this pipe cutter to cut both copper and PCV plumbing. I needed a larger one than I had so I could cut a 2" drain pipe, and for this job, it performed admirably. Cutting was easy, and it made a clean cut in 2" copper pipe. I haven't tried it on PVC, but it should make short work of it, judging by the way it cut through copper. This tool is reasonably priced, and I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Heavy-Duty Pipe Cutter That Gets the Job Done (Just a Bit Bulky in Tight Spaces) Heavy-Duty Pipe Cutter That Gets the Job Done (Just a Bit Bulky in Tight Spaces)
Size: 1/8"-1-1/4"
I’ve been really impressed with this pipe cutter so far. It feels heavy-duty right out of the box and has a solid, durable build that gives you confidence it’ll last. The blade is very sharp and cuts cleanly without much effort, which makes the job quicker and smoother. One thing I really appreciate is the clear labeling on the tool showing what pipe sizes it can handle - super helpful when you’re grabbing it quickly and don’t want to second guess. The only downside I’ve noticed is that it’s a bit bulky, which can make it harder to use in tight or confined spaces. Not a dealbreaker, but something to be aware of depending on where you’re working. Overall, a reliable and well-built tool that performs exactly how you’d want. ... show more

It is a behemoth. Feels heavy and solid. It is all metal except for the twist nut cover and the two bumper pads. The bumper pads are a nice touch giving it something to rest level on when you set it down. It has two sets of tripe guide bearings at the top and 1” blade for the cutting. The large rubber gripped knob at the bottom is easy to grip and advance. I tested it on a 1” thick piece of galvanized steel pipe with a 1/8” think wall. Handled it with no problem. I am happy to have this in my tool box. Best pipe cutter I have had the pleasure to use. PRECISE RATING: A serious 5 (great at doing what I need and more, several exceptional features/characteristics, definitely buy again if/when needed) MOST INFLUENTIAL RATING CONSIDERATION: heavy construction RECOMMENDATION: If you are a DIY’er (and maybe even a professional) and need a pipe cutter occasionally (or frequently), I can recommend this unit for the price without hesitation. (As always, I will report back if there are any durability or performance issues with additional use.) PHOTO INFO (photos are loaded in order, but may be rearranged when finally posted): 1) Side view illustrating resting bumper and dimensions 2) Back view 3) In use 4) 1” galvanized steel cut Thank you for taking the time to read this review.
