I'd assume it has something to do with the mint and the taste or smell. Whatever it is I've not had a mosquito bite or even one fly close enough to bite. Its not greasy or oily, soaks into your skin quickly, leaves a slight tingling sensation when applied but goes away quickly. This is a lotion you dont need to wipe your hands off after applying so you can use it on the go and not worry about leaving oil marks from your hands all over. Gold bond is always affordable and works, from the older bruising skin to overnight aging skin and crepe cream. Try them they all work for less money. This one is very cooling, I live in Florida so it also keeps bugs away. But I have sensitive itchy skin, I love this and WILL buy again.
