  • Hands down best catcher for the money!!
Very fast catcher, will frequently lock on to Pokemon before they even appear on the map. Easily catching 2-300 Pokemon a day with this & absolutely living it. It does prefer Pokemon way before spinning stops/gyms. Takes 90 minutes to charge from dead to full. Will continue working seamlessly to about 35 mph, after that, it will only spin gyms to ~42mph. CONS: Definitely the charger built into the strap.. very snug & easy to break. Also, the rare random disconnects... PROS: very fast & effective. 3-4 days heavy usage without needing charged. Easy interface. Stays connected without issue at 50 feet away. I HIGHLY suggest getting the carry case & not using the strap. The band is way too snug & requires some strength & finesse to get it off. ... show more

  • WORTH EVERY CENT!! The best catch/spin device I’ve used so far.
I’m so glad I got this! I previously had a Go Plus (that I accidentally washed and dried) and a Pokeball Plus (that I accidentally dropped in the grass and then ran over with a lawnmower). Neither of them did auto spin and auto catch, though, even before their unfortunate demise. I carefully researched the 3 Gotcha versions, as well as a few other random devices, and decided to go with the Gotcha Evolve, mostly because of the screen. I also preferred the look of Evolve’s wrist band. I’d read about potential issues with the recharging plug be broken off, but I think that if you’re reasonably careful detaching the wristband, you’ll be fine. And if you’re the kind of person who isn’t careful, maybe consider springing for the protection plan. I get great battery life on a recharge, and it doesn’t take that long to reach full power. I love that you can see how much battery you have left on the screen. There’s an app you can download to change the settings on your Evolve, but I never use the app, as it’s easier for me to alter the settings directly on the watch. I appreciate the fact that I can quickly turn off the auto function if, say, I don’t want to spin stops because I’m trying to save a spot open for a red egg. As for fit, the band stays on securely around my wrist. I only use one of the two keepers because it can take a little longer to put it on and take it off. However, I rarely wear it on my wrist because, as a smaller female, the watch face is so huge on my arm that it doesn’t fit well. I tend to just stick it in a pocket when I’m walking or buckle it to a belt loop. I personally never use the time or step functions since I have my phone. It’s true what has been said about the vibrations being pretty much unnoticeable, especially when not on your wrist. I leave that function off. The watch does turn off after 30 minutes. Sometimes it will still display as being “on” in the game, but then I notice that it’s not catching or spinning. If the game shows the watch is off, I just have to reconnect, but if it hasn’t realized the Evolve has shut down, I need to restart the app and then reconnect. It’s only a minor annoyance. Speaking of connecting the Evolve to my game, I’d say it’s easy to do 90% of the time, as long as I have a decent WiFi or data connection. A weak signal can stop it from connecting. For the 10% of the time when it has trouble, a simple restart almost always solves the problem. The Evolve is on par with the Go Plus and Pokeball Plus when it comes to registering stops or Pokémon. Usually when it won’t pick up on them, I can get it to notice them by either facing the target and making sure I’m zoomed all the way in or tapping the watch to wake up the screen. Otherwise, I restart the app and reconnect. But for me, the Evolve is no worse than the Plus or Pokeball devices were. Sometimes they just don’t “see” them for whatever reason. Last comments on catching/spinning: overall catch rate for me is probably less than 50% with the Evolve when travel speed is at or below game limits. This is about the same as my rate with the other devices. Like them, the Evolve definitely increases spawns, catches, and spins when I’m driving faster than regular cutoff speeds. Increased spawns still occur around 35-50ish mph, but successful auto catch and spin rates are much lower. It rarely does anything at highway speeds of 55+ mph. All-in-all, the Evolve has been worth every cent. It’s been great for helping me grind stardust, especially when I’m randomly driving around or am busy doing something else on my phone. (The app doesn’t need to be open on the screen to do its job, you just have to make sure you’re connected.) It’s also great for catching unexpected shiny when you can’t play. It’s always a great surprise to look through you dex and find a shiny that the Evolve caught in the background. I do turn off the auto catch feature when I’m shiny hunting because I don’t want to take the chance of it running away (like other devices, the Evolve will only throw one regular Pokeball and then give up). That being said, I haven’t yet had a shiny run away from an Evolve throw. Not sure if I’m just lucky, though. I highly recommend the Evolve for all serious and semi-serious players. Though it isn’t perfect, it’s still as good as—and often better than—all the other similar devices. ... show more

  • Works well most of the time, Features not as advertised
Revising my review from 3 stars to 1 star. Reason: The battery life. After just a few months the battery life has dropped to almost unusable. The device will go from a full charge to completely dead (will not even wake up) after just an hour of use. My original one would last a couple of days before needing to be recharged. Original review: I have bought this item two times from the same listing on Amazon. The first one in Feb 2020 is exactly as listed and worked well. The battery life was decent, lasting a couple of days in normal usage. That original Go-tcha Evolve quit working last month after more than 3 years. Not too bad. So I bought the same item on Amazon again (so I thought). This review is based on my first week observations of the Go-Tcha Evolve that I received in Aug 2023 (vs Feb 2020). The item arrived in the same packaging and looks identical to the one I received in 2020, until you actually use it. the differences: - No watch/clock function on the new Go-tcha - No Pedometer on the new Go-tcha - The display on the new Go-tcha defaults to the reverse orientation as the original (for wearing on the right wrist). It can be flipped using the controls, but seems to revert to the reverse display randomly. - The new Go-tcha can be connected to two phones (and two Pogo accounts) at the same time. Neat feature, if I needed that. - The battery life of the new Go-tcha seems to be much worse than my original. The old one could go a couple of days before needing a recharge. This one is showing low battery (0 bars) in less than a day, even with only one phone connected. I guess it would be worse if you were connecting to two. I still like the Go-tcha Evolve. It seems to work as well as the original Evolve that I received in 2020, except for the missing features (that I do not use) and the shorter battery life (this is more annoying). ... show more
