  • Good Value Very Sturdy
Color: Brown
I had put off buying a cat tree because they are expensive considering they are designed for cats to tear apart. I have bought all kinds of cat scratchers, toys, and beds. In the end, as I am sure other cat owners can attest, I needed a cat tree and there was just no way around it. She needed to climb and she needed somewhere to hang out away from the dog. So, I broke down and started shopping for cat trees. My frugal nature drew me to the cheapest ones, but the reviews on many of them were not fabulous. This cat tree was not the cheapest, but it was on sale when I bought it and the reviews were good. The product was delivered very quickly and it was packaged very well. It was waiting for me on my doorstep when I got home from work today. All of the pieces were there and everything was in excellent condition. The instructions are just pictures like all instructions are nowadays, but they were very straightforward and easy to follow. The packaging includes an Allen wrench with a Philips head on one end so that is all you need, no other tools required. I will say that with a couple of the areas that required the Philips head, I would probably have been better off getting out my own screwdriver, but it was late and I didn't want to dig for it. The one they provided did the job, it was just short and being attached to an allen wrench, sometimes it was hard to get leverage. I am not generally very good at putting things together and only the love for my cat could have gotten me to do it as soon as the box came rather than procrastinating, but this went together very easily and I didn't swear at it once, which is practically a miracle. There was only one frustrating bit where the cat house gets screwed on, but I think if I had a second person to help that may have gone easier (you have to screw the cat house part into the third leg of the base so you can't see where the screw is going). Overall, not difficult at all. This cat tree is very sturdy. It's diamond design base lends itself to being put in a corner, but it could really go anywhere. It doesn't wobble at all. The carpeting is very plush and looks very nice, it isn't that cheap carpeting that some use. I prefer the chocolate brown to the tan/beige ones that are the usual color. The sisal rope areas seem to be well attached. I am sure that my cat will tear them apart eventually since that is what they are made for, but I can see how I could get more and replace it without much trouble if necessary. The sizing listed in the description is correct, it is about 42" tall. I put it in a corner of my bedroom so I wouldn't have to sacrifice living room space and it does take up a whole corner so it isn't small width wise, but I think that this is necessary it order to have the platforms wide enough for cats to comfortably use, so I am not marking it down for that (especially because I understood the measurements when I bought it). The cat tree turned out exactly as pictured and my cat LOVES it. She is a one year old 7 lb tiger striped tabby and she was crawling all over it before I even got it all the way put together. She is full grown so she doesn't need to use the ladder and when I was putting it together, I really just thought she might use it as an extra scratcher, but she likes to use the ladder to go up through and into the house, so I just thought that was kind of neat. I know that the little hanging toy on the side will get destroyed pretty quick, she has had those before and they are just held on with elastic, but that is okay, I have replaced those types of toys on other scratchers and even though she destroys them, that is the fun. The other toy is a rope and it is well constructed so I will be interested to see how long that lasts. It has a wooden knob on one end that screws into the cat tree, so I don't suppose that would be replaceable once she tears it to ribbons. The cat house part is a bit on the small side, but my cat loves curling up in tiny spaces so this suits her. She is very long, so once she is inside, she has to wrap herself into a loop, but that is what she prefers anyway. I could see how if you had a very big fluffy cat, it might be a squeeze. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and feel like this cat tree is a very good value. I will update this review for wearability as time goes on, but I have to say it seems like a very good product just from the beginning. The next time I need to buy something like this, I will definitely look for Go Pet Club products. ... show more

  • It took a LOT of work, but my cat absolutely loves it now.
Color: Brown
I spent a very long time online searching through cat condos, houses, towers, etc. I wanted a product that wouldn't fall apart, was tall enough, and was cheap. I knew from reading previous reviews of this product that it was pretty cheaply manufactured and might not work out. I decided to try this anyways. My cat is at least ten and weights 13 pounds, he's of normal build. It arrived very early, with all pieces in tact and accounted for. My husband and I assembled it within half an hour and it looked just how it is in the picture. As a note, it definitely wobbles with larger, heavier cats. It is placed in a corner where it's more stable, but still wobbles when he jumps. The cloth is a very thin fur like material, it is not carpet. The house is way too small for him to fit, it's definitely for small cats or kittens, or big cats that like to be in a small ball while they sleep. I only have the one cat and he is not very active. I could imagine cats that are jumping up and down on this will make this wobble tons. As it's in a corner it thuds the wall when he jumps up, but he stays up there for a very long time so it's not a big deal. This tree is perfect for my kitty. My cat wanted NOTHING to do with this when I first purchased it. He had never encountered a cat tree and had no idea how to respond to it. When placed on the top tier he'd shakily (because it wobbles) slink down it and jump off as fast as he could. As I'm not the wealthiest of the bunch I really didn't want to give up on this purchase. I added his cat bed to the very top tier for comfort and I placed him in it. Still no good, jumped down immediately. I didn't push him and instead left him for a week to maybe discover the joys of the cat tree by himself. He wouldn't even go near it. How I got him to love it: I placed his food and water on the bottom part behind the ladder. This made him have to be on it to eat food. He was skittish at first but a few days later didn't mind being under there at all. When I took the bowls away he would crawl under that area and sleep happily. But he still wouldn't jump up. So, I placed his food and water on the house of the second tier so he HAD to jump to get to them, eventually he got hungry enough. When he was up there he'd balance very cautiously and jump right back down. About a week later he got much more comfortable and would readily jump up to eat, balance not being a problem anymore. He had also begun to peer up at the tallest tier, curiously. About a week later I moved the food bowl to balance on the third tier with the mouse, he had to place both front paws and reach his head over to eat. A few days later he got so confident he himself jumped up to the very top tier where his bed was. At last! It took almost a month of patience and planning but he had mastered the art of the cat tree. It took him a while to get used to the wobbling but he's a pro now. Imagine how giddy I was every time he'd jump up to the topmost tier. I nailed his pet bed down because he kept knocking it off when he'd descend and he also moves a little bit in his sleep...he ended up falling off the whole thing a couple times dreaming. The story doesn't even end there. I purchased a few rope scratch posts and he never used one. I was sure that the rope posts were going to be wasted resources. Imagine my utter shock and delight when three months from this purchase, two months after he gets used to this tree, he starts spontaneously using the rope post. Not only that, he has no love of any cat toy that doesn't have feathers. I caught him vigorously batting the toy mouse for a few seconds before getting bored. But that's happened three times so I feel like it's not wasted either. As I write this he's happily curled up in his bed on the top tier, licking away. ... show more
