  • First impression: Wow!!!
I really didn't have super high expectations for this piccolo, but when I opened the box I was very surprised. It is very beautiful with unexpected French pointed keys. I read all the mixed reviews but at this price point and for my personal needs I decided to give this piccolo a try. I ordered it this morning and it was delivered about 10 hours later. Unlike most who say they are flute players wanting a piccolo I was actually a piccolist when I was younger. I do have several piccolos but the cost to repad one now (@$300) is really more than I want to spend just to see if I want rekindle my interest. Its kinda late so I haven't tried to play in the third octave so I don't disturb the neighbors, but the first two play very sweetly. I played one with a resonite body before so the metal one feels skinny but I'm sure with practice I'll get used to it. Yes the cloth is too big to clean the inside to so I would suggest ordering a piccolo swab as well. I thought the gloves were funny but then I put them on and wiped the piccolo off to put her away. Perfect! As for the case, it is perfectly adequate. Its just about like all my other piccolo cases and I have four. Make sure you remove the small corks holding the keys in place during shipping before trying to play. When inserting and removing the mouthpiece, make sure to hold the piccolo firmly by the BARREL, not the body and you will avoid bending the rods or keys. I'm sorry this has been such a long review but yes, I am pretty excited. It is not a toy. Its not a Haynes or even a Gemeinhardt but those :name: brands are uber expensive! I really hope this piccolo lives up to my now heightened expectations. Will update in the future... ... show more

  • Love it!(read for honest review)
Color: silver
I bought this piccolo w/ FREE ONE DAY SHIPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I got it the package was really easy to open and everything came in good condition. The sound quality was excellent and the aesthetic was great. I had never played the piccolo before but I am an advanced flute player(according to my school). Picking up from the flute to the piccolo was relatively easy and I recommend anyone looking to play an/another instrument to purchase this one. My first flute that I had bought was a c flute from Glory and I was so extremely pleased that I bought a piccolo(as described). The bad reviews are probably newbs(1st timers). I just really LOVE this product and the brand Glory) :)Overall I highly recommend this product to anyone who plays or would like to play an instrument. ... show more

  • It's a piccolo, it makes sounds, but that's about it...
Color: black/Gold
Edit 12/5/2019 I had been trying for a few weeks now to get the head cork loose until I finally broke the bolt today. The bolt and the bottom of the head cork were moving THROUGH the cork. The cork has fused itself to the inside of the head stock and will not budge. Even trying to poke at the cork so i can put another head cork into the headjoint is frustratingly painful. The cork is almost like a stone and it feels like they've glued it to the inside of the headjoint. At this point, I've downgraded my rating to a 1-star. This piccolo is not worth the money they want for it. The headjoint issues combined with the poor metal quality and bending keys essentially makes this piccolo unplayable. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PICCOLO FOR ANYONE, EVEN A CHILD. I picked this picc up because I needed something to re-teach myself how to read music, but I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg. It's serving that purpose, but I use the term "serving" loosely. 1. You cannot get the head cork out of the head joint. It will not budge. This means you cannot do any fine-tuned adjustments to your tuning. 2. It is constructed with cheap metals. The G#/Ab key is beginning to bend on my picc, when it shoudln't be. 3. The supplied cloth is OK, but the cleaning rod is not long enough to go all the way through the picc. This means you have to clean from both ends and hope that the center gets cleaned enough to not rot your pads out. 4. Sound quality is very tinny due to cheap metals. Am I glad I bought this? Yes and no. I'm glad I have it because now I can get used to reading music again, but that's about it. I would never take this picc to a community band and pretend it's something worth playing in an ensemble. Don't buy it for your children to learn on at school. Spend the money and buy a quality instrument. If you want one just to fart around with and play on occasion, or to give your child as a toy, go for it. Just don't expect it to knock anyone's socks off. ... show more

  • Love it!!! but...
Color: silver
I love this piccolo. It arrived on time and in a protective package. The case is the one of the con's of the purchase. It feels very flimsy and I reccomend getting a new one. The body of the picc sits very high in the case and that seems very unprotective. The cleaning rod is another con, it and the cloth will not fit inside the picc for nothing. It also dyed the cloth black. The piccolo itself is amazing. It arrived with cork pegs under the keys to make sure theyre not moving through shipping. They were very easy to get out.The tuning could be better but I have not had any problems with the sound quality. I can get the low notes out easily!!! The high notes might need some practice. ... show more

  • User Error
Color: silver
Several reviews say that the keys were "stuck" when their piccolo arrived. I'm guessing this is because of the little pieces of cork that are put in place for shipping---they keep the keys from moving while the instrument is in transit. These little brownish/tan, triangular wedges of cork are tiny and hard to see. They can be tricky to remove. I recommend using a toothpick to push them out from under the mechanisms they hold in place. They are all on the side of the instrument under the main rods, the side that faces you as you play. Other reviews say that the low notes are impossible on this piccolo. This isn't quite true---they're simply difficult to play. With practice, the low range sounds very nice. Overall, I am very happy with this instrument. It's excellent quality for such a low price and serves my needs very well. I suspect that the negative reviews are mostly due to 'user error' on this one. ... show more
