  • Very good value in an inexpensive instrument. PARENTAL WARNING!
Before I review the product, I want to issue a warning to parents. If you're buying this for a child, don't let them Google "Glory flute" because, although the search will yield numerous photos of this product, it will also give a number of extremely explicit pornographic photos. Having said that, I bought this flute because I used to play years ago and I have a very nice, expensive solid silver flute that needs new pads before it's playable. I wanted to get a cheap flute to practice with before spending the money on reconditioning the expensive flute, just to see if I'm really motivated to play, or it was just a passing fancy. This flute is perfect for my needs. It lost a star because of the strong odor when you open the box. Also, the D key wasn't working initially. I could play the scales down to E but anything lower wouldn't produce a sound. I decided to run some scales anyway, and after about five minutes, the problem fixed itself. Now all the notes sound clear. The high register and low register notes are equally clear, and the low C, C# and D sound great. I like the tone. The black enamel with white metal keys is really pretty. Other reviewers have said the color scratches, rubs off, or chips. I will handle it carefully. If the potential for chipping is an issue for you, get the flute without the fancy colors. I recommend this for beginners of all ages. ... show more

  • Didn't last long
It sounded great and my son loved the color bt it only lasted about 3 months before the paint started coming off and one of the keys broke. I took it to a repair shop and they said it wasn't worth fixing because it would end up braking again and would cost more in the long run to keep fixing it. Very disappointed bt I guess thats why it was such a low price. ... show more

  • good for the price.
Just got my flute, and the sound and good for a starter flute. each piece fits together well. Plays well and does the job. Understand this isn't a high end 2,000 dollar flute it is a painted flute but I like it. I will re-review after a month on the paint status and such. 12/3/19 UPDATE! So guess what, if you take care of your painted flute, the color does not chip. The sound is still good and it plays well. I did have to loosen a screw and fix a spring but these are things you learn to do. Still works and still play with my daughter on her silver and admitly better flute. It is still great for the price and serves its purpose. ... show more

  • Meh
I like that its non traditional and comes in a color. Having the only Male flute player he appreciates getting a black flute. We weren't sure he was going to stick with it so we went cheap. He is also on his 2nd one of these in 3 years. We repaired the 1st one 3 times and lost a LOT of the black finish. We picked him up a 2nd one because 1. The black 2. Can't beat the price in a pinch (kids never break things at a financially healthy time). Quality seems to have improved.... ... show more

  • Perfect and beautiful
Perfect and beautiful! I bought this for my daughter because I was tired of renting a flute for her. I was nervous the matte black would show fingerprints and smudges all the time, but it is really pretty. And she absolutely loves it. She loves the color and she loves the bag it came in. She loves being able to sling it over her shoulder and not worry about dropping it or accidentally leaving it behind if she sits for a bit. We spent a great deal of time tracking down her other flute because of this and with this one we have yet to encounter a disappearance. Which is super convenient. She is just really over joyed with it, practices much more often. ... show more

  • Good beginner flute, great for first or second year band students.
My daughters Yamaha flute broke, and had to be sent off for repair. Since she needed a backup anyway, I purchased this flute. Between the school and the repair place ("They're picking it up any day now", followed by "We're not sure what happened"), she ended up using this flute for the last 3 months of the school year, and it worked just fine. I won't count on it to last for years, but for a beginner flute, this is perfect. So if your child is first or second year in band, then you can't go wrong with this, because the band leader will be pushing for you to buy a thousand dollar flute after a year or two anyway -- and who knows if your child will stick with it. ... show more

  • Great value
I'm not a music expert. I bought this instead of the $400 model the schools partner was pushing. No complaints from my son or the music teacher.
