It may need a wash before it is worthy of sleeping in, for it is a little itchy on bare skin, but it's still soft. Newer shirts are usually itchy until you wash them. Other than that, the fabric is strong. Functionality wise, it will be a good shirt to sleep in or just to wear out in public. It's not see through, and the cotton content is accurate. This is a very good shirt and will purchase again. However, it does shrink when put in the washer and dryer. I have plan to purchase it again and I'm thinking maybe after washed, I would dry it outside so it won't shrink. How about that? Cotton shirt does not like dryer. Also, this is not a see through shirt and it is good to wear alone instead of adding an undershirt. Very sturdy since it will not break. Cotton quality of those shirts is great. That was the main reason I decided to buy them. After few washes and dries the shirts twisted and visibly don't look pretty. Shrinking was minimal but noticeable. Seams are made very narrow and it doesn't look nice either. I use them when working on my car and just for occasions where look is not important. I love them because of great cotton quality as this was the main reason for me buying them.
