  • Amazing card. Worth the price.
I've had my eyes on the RTX cards for a while now. Being as the prices were a little unreasonable when they first launched. Then I noticed that the 1080's and 1080ti's started becoming more expensive as stock was drying up. The 1080's started to be the same price new (if not a bit more) than this one. Also the 1080ti's were still over $1,000 new (or even used). I'm a bit wary buying used as a lot of them were used in mining rigs. Which doesn't bode well for longevity. So I got this one after reading comparisons between this and the 1080 and 1080 ti. This card outperforms the 1080 easily and is about 2 to 4 percent better than the 1080ti in most games. I upgraded from a gtx 1070 so it was worth it. To give an idea on just how good this card is. In mg old 1070 I was playing Destiny 2 at medium settings and would peak at around 100fps in orbit and around 65 to 75 in most areas. Up to 115 peak in smaller zones. On titan (which is a gpu drain for whatever reason) I would struggle to hit 55 fps. And in Anthem, I barely hit 75 fps. Often only average 45 in Fort Tarsis or free play. With this card though. Settings set to the max. I managed to average about 75 to 95 on Titan in Destiny 2 with 100+ average everywhere else. And in Anthem I hit around 75 to 85 average in Fort Tarsis and free play. All of this while using streamlabs obs running and using NVEC encoding which normally I'd lose about 10 to 15 fps in my old card. This one easily handles it all. The games look absolutely gorgeous! And in Battlefield V, it's buttery smooth at max settings (no ray tracing because it's unnecessary). It is a MASSIVE card. So make sure you have the room for it in your case. It also needs a 6 pin and an 8 pin power connector. Also use a rated power supply above 650 watts. I have an 850 which is enough for my needs. I will also say that it also runs chilly as I've never seen it peak above 65c. So cooling isn't an issue. I would definitely recommend this card over an EVGA which is $100+ more than this one. ... show more

  • Worth it for anyone coming from lower than a 10xx series!
So, this card cost $897 USD with tax. That's a lot of money, but I upgraded from a Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce OC purchased back in January 2015. When I would had planned to upgrade to the GTX 1080, cryptocurrency mining had driven the prices up to nearly to what I payed for this card. So, I didn't have the money yet, and continued to save. Then Nvidia announced the 20xx gen cards and I decided to wait a little longer for their release. It was definitely worth it! I'm seeing over 150% increase in most benchmarks. I went from a score of 1084 with the 970 to a score of 3522 with the 2080 in VRMark's Blue Room and a 3092 to a 10520 in Cyan Room, and a score of 3712 to a score of 9295 in 3DMark's Time Spy. That's more than 200% increase in VRMark and more than 150% increase in 3DMark. Meanwhile, I went from a score of 4212 to a score of 10781 in the FFXV Windows Edition Benchmark settings at 1080p and High. That's another 150% increase. If you have a 10xx series card it's not worth the current cost of upgrading, so I suggest you wait or skip it. If your going from a 7xx or lower it's definitely worth the upgrade. If you've got a 9xx series card, you'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth the upgrade, but I'm definitely seeing the difference in my VR games and even non-vr titles like Fallout 4, Assetto Corsa, Forza, and FFXV. Edit 6/5/2020: This card still runs like a dream for me, and I almost never hear it. The fans are essentially silent outside of games, not producing any more noise than anything else in the case or near the system, and only produce a mild whir during games due to the shockingly quiet fan curve that Gigabyte uses, according to monitoring software the fans never go above 60% of their max RPM. With MSI Afterburner I was able to OC this card +125 on the Core Clock and +750 on the Memory Clock after putting the Power Limit to max, all on the stock fan control settings. I'm not trying to push records and I'm running Ryzen 9 3950X now, but this still gave me @7% performance increase in Time Spy compared to non-overclock settings and that's nothing to scoff at considering it puts me into the middle of RTX 2080 Super results with this new CPU. ... show more
