Great heatsinks and motherboard plug options. Has everything you will ever need! Mine had no coil whine, I tried 2 boards just to make sure. The coil whine issue is really overstated. Nice fan headers, RGB headers, and place for m2 ssds. Heatsink on the VRM is top notch, not that it's needed anyway. GPU retention clip is nicely made, and quality motherboard with enough USB ports for anyone. Has the gen2 2x2 USB for future proofing. Don't be afraid to buy it used, and save some money. The coil whine issue is overstated. High quality all around and POSTed first try with both boards. My bios boot time in task manager is 11-12 seconds. Everything is working fine with an AMD 7800X3D and the price to performance is great, but I can't stand the BIOs and how it will sometimes let me boot into and sometimes it won't. There is also a noticeable coil whine coming from the VRM area. Also my PC crashed one day and I had to clear the CMOs to get everything working again. In my small case that was a huge pain... I will only buy Asus ROG boards going forward as my last one was flawless. I really, really, really do not want to return this as it will take another hour+ of my life to take the PC apart and ship everything out. I will deal with it for now and save up for a nicer board. Lesson learned. Edit 3/2024 - revising to a 5 star as my BIOS problems have subsided after updating to F22. The coil whine I found was actually my AIO pump when it was over 75% so I suggest trying that along with undervolting where you can. I think everything is good now and I am happy. Still would want to have an ASUS ROG board in the future to avoid the little issues I had to figure out and fix. ... show more

Motherboard arrived and appeared to be working okay… at first. Then the black screen crashes began. I unfortunately got a rev 1 board, and those things are notoriously busted. It shipped with the F1 bios installed which doesn’t work with current gen 3 ryzen cpu and every bios version before F6 is apparently a big security risk. It stayed booted long enough for me to use the gigabyte control panel (do not recommend) to update the drivers and the bios. Well, it decided to only update to version F3 and not the most recent f9 and the black screen crashes continued. So I flashed the bios to version F9 and the crashes continued. I did a bunch of other troubleshooting to try to get the thing to work and never found a solution. Also the software it recommends to keep it updated is their gigabyte control panel. It’s filled with bloat ware and offers the RGB software RGB fusion 2.0. This software was garbage and offered very limited options in addition to frequently not working. It would only turn on half the leds on any given fan in addition to causing my front fans to flash bright white before going back to whatever I programmed them to. My problems were not limited to just me as I found multiple other forum posts that described the same issues. I would give it 0 stars if I could. ... show more

I used this mobo in a midrange gaming machine - seems very robust with plenty of fan headers and m.2 nvme support. You will want to check cpu compatibility - the AMD processor I used was listed as compatible - but would not boot or post at all until I updated the bios on the board using the Q-flash button. Per Gigabyte tech support - “cpu is too new”. Just something to keep in mind. It is a quality board though and I would buy again. ... show more

This board is packed with features, and even has wifi which is nice so I can test connections when needed. The board seems well-built. The m.2 quick latches should become standard on all boards, they are nice! Having that extra pcie slot on an M board is also a great nice-to-have. Sometimes there is a red light that just stays on sometimes, it's some bios reset option I assume, but it's a tad annoying, but also it's not on right now so heh. I'm not a big fan of rgb but this does it nicely. My biggest gripes are the software and updating the bios. The software at first seems really nice, it checked for new drivers, and allowed me to download them all at once, however, they packaged Norton with it (though you can uncheck that box it was still offputting and I didn't see it until it was almost too late) and updated by firmware but not to the latest firmware. When I tried doing a manual bios update myself I ran into some frustrating issues of the bios updater not being able to read the file, I had to click on the file instead of hit next even though it was the only file, otherwise it would keep saying file not found. But, after that issue was resolved by clicking, it then said invalid image file. I still haven't been able to update my bios, and my version doesn't fix the voltage issue with the 7800x3d, so that's a bit concerning. The documentation from Gigabyte was not any help at all. For the price, this board is unmatched. I even saw it have some solid recommendations from some techs on youtube after I bought it. Everything works great, though I wish it had better onboard audio, a way to change the color of that red led on the bios button, better documentation, and not throwing unneeded or bad (norton) software in the list of driver downloads. ... show more

Using with ryzen 7700. Great upgrade from i7 6700 and b150m. Pcie5 ssd is nice, wish the pcie x16 was pcie5, but it is 4.0. Still great inexpensive board with plenty of options. If you intend to use a ssd with a large heatsink installed on it, ensure it will fit under your graphics card! Mine is very close to touching ... show more

GPU RTX 4080 Super, CPU (Ryzen 7 7800X3D), and RAM (Corsair Vengeance DDR%-5600) perform well on this board. Great performing board overall. Almost all chipset drivers and software updates cleanly. NVMe performance is not bad, just average.
