If you're like me, you own and use dishes until several pieces are broken or they become so chipped up, they look down right tacky. Been searching for a nice set of stoneware and The Gibson Elite Stoneware was just what I was looking for. This stoneware set is AWESOME! I ordered 2 sets of the white/blue. They're casual and classy looking. Love the soothing colors, thick and durable and best of all - the plates are large, bowls are deep cereal bowls and the coffee mugs (don't faint) are actual coffee mugs! Not the cheesy little useless coffee cups that normally come with dinnerware, nope these are actual Mugs. Thank You! Love my new stoneware! Some side notes... stoneware is type of clay and not stamped out of a press, so there will be some slight imperfections. Although it is microwave safe, remember this stoneware has an edge pattern and is glazed, so I am less likely to use it in the microwave for longer than a quick 30 seconds or so, I've had no issues with re-heating coffee in the mugs. I use microwave specific dishes to heat food in the MW. As for the dishwasher, I rarely use the hot heat drying cycle - a good dishwasher detergent doesn't require hot dry heat - and I use white vinegar as the rinse aid instead of store brand (which carries tons of chemicals that can remain on your dishes). I gifted this set to my unmarried brother a year ago (March 2023) for daily use. What won me over was this set has both 6" bowls and 8" lunch plates. My brother who is the owner, likes both the pattern and its HUGE coffee cups. The Drawback: The dinnerplate diameter is 1/8" too big for his upper kitchen cabinets. The plates hit the door and won't allow the (standard depth) cabinet door to fully close. I did pre-measure and told him they wouldn't fit, but he preferred this pattern over any others, so in this case, it didn't matter ... however if it were My Kitchen? I would have chosen a different set with a smaller-diameter dinner plate. I'm giving this set 5 stars because it's exactly what he wanted, the price was fair, and they're a decent set that goes through the dishwasher regularly, and has no chips, cracks, or breakage (so far). They look exactly as pictured - but better. The colour is rich. The quality is high. These appear to be hand painted - each is not perfectly identical and there are "imperfections", meaning paint blends in areas and is by design and is not a defect. The rectangular trim is embedded tiles and not obvious from the picture. It really adds to the aesthetic. There is heft in the weight - feel very solid, but not too heavy to use. Maybe not the best for under 6 yr olds. The plates are big so measure your cupboard and dishwasher to ensure fit. The bowls are deep and do not stack in ours so we wash only the bowls by hand. The finish is strong and hasn't marked or scratched after 3 months, but over time they inevitably will and is expected. The mugs are right-sized for us and our coffee. Overall, very happy. Using as Everyday set. Wish we could buy matching extras. Estebana a close match for canisters. Very reasonably priced. Would recommend. ... show more

I was afraid to purchase after reading the reviews here saying their china arrived broken. I am so glad I placed my order. I already have this set and my young adult children love it so much. Being of age, I decided to get an extra set so that when I leave this earth, each of them will have their own set. The box arrived unharmed, no broken dishes. These dishes are more sturdy ,and durable, and better made than the last set I had for almost $20 more. Made by the same company 2 1/2 years ago. It’s hard to find good dishes at a reasonable price, but I would definitely recommend people take a look at these, they come in many colors, fit in standard cupboards, and hold a great deal of food. These are SO PRETTY in person (I got the blue). Much prettier than online pictures. Each piece is slightly different from the next, as they are made using a reactive glaze. It gives them the appearance of being hand painted. They feel durable and well made and I couldn't be happier. They are very heavy! The dinner plates are big, the mugs are 16 ounces, and it is just a beautiful set. I was nervous ordering dishes online, but everything arrived well packed and undamaged. I really like the pattern on this dishware. Aside from them being microwave and dishwasher safe, I love that the cups and bowls are dark inside. This eliminates any worries about discoloration (coffee, tea, red sauces, etc.)
