I'm giving them four stars in this review, and how they could earn that fifth star. I purchased this product back in November of last year (2025) as a backup generator in case my Westinghouse iGen 4500 fails. Right out of the box the battery was disconnected, as it should be. But I couldn't find the battery. I read the manual thoroughly and no mention on how to set up or troubleshoot the battery. I also searched YouTube for instructional videos on this product. There was one "unboxing review" but didn't tell me how to locate the battery. So I contacted customer service. They gave me some troubleshooting steps on how to test the wires using a moltometer. I was able to find the wires I mentioned, and the voltometer read a good charge on it. Customer service was prompt and helpful by the way. No problem putting in a claim or speaking with customer service. They sent me out a new battery. When I received the battery, I put it aside for my small engine mechanic to install it for me because I don't know where to install the battery. Again there was nothing mentioned about it in the owner's manual and no supporting videos on YouTube. My mechanic knew exactly where the battery goes, and hooked up the new battery right away. Got it running. So now I have an extra battery taking storage space in my garage. As for the operation. It is hard to get started. It wobbles. The wheel had fallen off on it my mechanic got it back on. It seems flimsy. But once I pull the draw string a few times it will eventually start. I was able to run my fifth wheel for four hours straight yesterday. I was happy it ran. Ran my microwave and fan without tripping a fuse. I like how it is light weight compared to my Westinghouse. I can put it in the back of my SUV next to my cooler. Lift it in and out of my vehicle without hurting my back or using loading ramps. I paid $578 for it. It's not an expensive generator. Despite it being flimsy I got what I paid for but I like the fact that it is light weight and small. I would have given this product five stars if there was better product support on it. A section in the owners manual on battery management. I am otherwise happy with the product.

This item is hard to catch in stock, Genkins has been around for years that I can remember, I’m a travel nurse and travel in an RV, this generator has handled everything I have put on it! It runs quietly and 8hrs on half its rating which I never used at once. I highly recommend this one or similar in wattage

Filled up with special mineral oil with special extra zinc chemical to break in the engine and seat the rings. Was a little hard to start the first time. Took many pulls to start. With the next two oil change break ins, it starts on the first pull. The next to last break in period it stopped by itself, I turned off the ESC throttle and it ran perfectly. The break in oil was Maxima 30-10901 Premium Break-in 10W-30. The final oil Mobil 1 10W-30 . Used the WEN 55201 Magnetic Oil Dipstick and it fit perfect, although Genkins brand is not listed as fitting. When changing the oil I did not find as much on the magnet as I had seen in Youtube videos. This does have a fuel gauge on the top not listed an Amazon, I liked that suprise. I am impressed with the quality. I think this is a lot of generator for your money. Last year 2022 after IAN in Tampa Florida we lost all our food in our Frig and Freezer. This is large enough to run our frost free 11 cubic foot freezer and a 25 cubic foot frig at the same time. We can unplug and plug other things in also like on the old TV show Green Acres. Now sitting tight for Idalia 2023 tomorrow. Let hope we do not have to use this new Genkin GK2300i.

I bought this generator because its specifications closely matched my needs, favorable ratings, and the price seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't so good. The generator arrived sooner than expected, and everything seemed in excellent condition. Weather conditions and personal priorities prevented trying to run the generator for a few days, so I didn't want to put it outdoors until I could get it set up and verify its proper operation. Also, I waited to see the actual operation manual to confirm the proper oil required for my situation. Although the packaging wasn't unduly bulky, the packaging was just enough too bulky for the conveniently available space to store the generator indoors, so I unpacked it and recycled the packaging in full confidence that the generator would work as expected. I studied the operating manual and purchased a modest supply of the proper motor oil. After filling the crankcase with the proper motor oil (SAE 10W30) and the fuel tank with 89-octane ethanol-free gasoline, I tried to start the generator without any hint of possible success. Because of previous experiences with defective spark plugs, I removed the original spark plug and found it to be defective. I replaced it with a new, correct spark plug I had on hand as a spare for my other generator, but still, the engine would not start. Since the generator now had fuel and oil in it, I covered it and kept it outdoors in what was to be its permanent location. I contacted Genkins through Amazon's communication system, and they responded reasonably promptly with advice on items to check. Their recommendations for confirming the proper supply of fuel to the carburetor and the presence of sparking at the spark plug were clear and reasonable. There was plenty of fuel to the carburetor, but even with the good replacement spark plug, there was no hint of any spark. These results were sent to Genkins through Amazon's communication system, and again, Genkins responded reasonably promptly with instructions for disconnecting the "low oil" switch in case that was causing the trouble. I disconnected the "low oil" switch as instructed, but still, the engine would not start, and repeating the previously recommended test for spark at the spark plug, there was still no hint of a spark. These results were reported to Genkins through Amazon's communication system, and Genkins asked me to return the generator to them in its original packaging, and they would either send a replacement generator or refund my money. I reported to Genkins that I no longer had the original packaging, but I would gladly return the defective generator to them using the packaging of a replacement generator. They responded that their company policy would not allow shipping a replacement generator until the original generator was returned to them. Then, they would either send a replacement or refund my money. They asked that I package the original generator as best I could and send it to them. I contacted Amazon and explained my discomfort with the imbalance of trust in the relationship with Genkins, and given the situation, I would prefer to return the generator for credit and then purchase a suitable generator of a different brand from Amazon. Thankfully, Amazon promptly activated their "A to Z guarantee," and began processing a full refund. Amazon did not want the generator to be returned, so I am donating it to our local Goodwill where they will sell it to local people who match good pieces and parts of such machinery to produce good working machines from an array of malfunctioning machines As soon as the refund was processed, I purchased another, similar generator of a different brand from Amazon, and I expect it to arrive in a few days. THANK YOU, AMAZON!!!!
