Everything about this kit is high-quality and easy to work with. Let’s start with the amp it’s small it’s rechargeable and it actually sounds great. Where were amps like this when I was a kid? The guitar itself is very high-quality. It looks great, and it has great tone. It set up pretty much out of the box. Priced at under $200 was almost hard to believe given the fact I got everything I needed including a carrying case, guitar picks, a amp and even extra strings. It comes with everything you need to start playing, including the guitar, case, a mini amp, tuner, extra strings, cleaning cloth, amp cable, and picks. The guitar feels good in the hands and sounds pretty similar to an entry level Fender Stratocaster. The body is made from real Mahogany and the wood design gives it a high end feel. The amp is battery powered and rechargeable via USB C, which is convenient, but it is not the highest quality. It’s perfect for someone just starting out but if you want to take guitar any bit seriously, you will likely need to purchase a real amp as it will produce much better sound as well as the ability to manipulate things like gain and distortion at a higher level. The guitar tuner is also a bit finicky, but it works. For a better playing experience, I recommend replacing the strings with higher quality strings like Ernie Ball. Overall, I am very satisfied with this GearIT Electric Guitar starter package and would recommend it to other beginners.     • A pretty decent sounding guitar but it needs a lot of work

I love the look of this guitar. The all-black body with a maple neck is a classic combination that gives a slight nod to a certain famous guitar player. The guitar also sounded pretty decent with a humbucker that you can instantly turn into a single coil. With the mahogany body, you can get that LP tonal quality from a S-style guitar. I also find the two single coil in the neck and middle positions sounded pretty interesting with the mahogany body. I'm so used to the bright and sparkly tone of these single coils on ash or alder bodies. These pickups still have the brightness but with an added roundness in the mid-range that helps to fill out the overall tone to feel nice and full. Now onto the bad part. This guitar needs A LOT of setup work. The nut slots were cut too high, making every note in the first five frets sound sharp despite tuning each open string perfectly. Along the neck, there were several areas where the fretted notes were buzzing. The corners of the frets are not rounded and feel pretty sharp in many areas. The bridge height and intonation were not set properly. The following also appears to be a common issue across all of the S-style GearIT guitars. The tuning machine locations were not set properly making all of the strings skew towards the right rather than pitching straight back as they're supposed to do. This means that the strings are constantly getting caught in the nut slots, making the tuning process much more of an ordeal than it needed to be. I would not recommend this guitar for beginners due to the fact that they will need to pay to have someone work on it in order for the guitar to be in the best playing condition. This may be a good guitar for those who are learning to set up guitars but the price point is pretty steep for someone who wants to have a guitar to experiment with. That said, I would recommend getting the GearIT GST-200 guitar instead. That guitar has the same body shape, electronics, and everything else. The only thing that the GST-200 doesn't include is the amp. While the GST-200 has a slightly higher price point, it does have a better setup than the GST-100 and it plays much better as well. However, I would put a disclaimer that the GST-200 seems to suffer from inconsistent quality control so may or may not get a guitar that plays perfectly right out of the box. Regardless, the GST-200 will probably require less work to play perfectly than the GST-100. ... show more

Cosmetically and functionally it’s nice. Slim neck profile, all pickup positions worked well. Gloss neck, rounded feet ends, coil splitting, and a beautiful finish and wood. Overall I’d recommend it. The tone I got out of it is close to the creaminess of a strata neck pickup. And the coil splitting was nice. All the goodies were also nice to have. Great addition to my collection, and I recommend for all levels of guitar. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I was actually really impressed with the craftsmanship especially for the price of such and all inclusive beginners kit. The construction and finish of the guitar was on par with much more expensive instruments. Solid set!
