2011 Ford Fiesta- out of the blue, the manual transmission lost all function because the gear shift lever was no longer connected to the transmission. The linkage bushing (a cheap piece of plastic) had evaporated after 12 years of driving. I had never even heard of this part, but when it goes bad, you do not drive. If you have a Ford, you MUST replace this little piece periodically. I sure wish somebody had told me.
