The item came primed. I, however, sanded it with 600 grit sand paper and reprimed because the priming should be fresh with no fingerprints, etc. on it. I went to Autozone and the Salesman looked up my vehicle paint number, which was not on the door but in the glove box. He matched the paint code. I completed the paint job on the gas door and installed it on the Silverado truck. I carved some of the plastic from the housing that holds the gas tank; sothat it did not damage the paint on the new gas door on the install. I had to take 2 days to paint it because it required 2 primer coats front and back. And 3 coats of paint for the front and 2 coats for the back. And 2 coats of clearcoat. It looks very good and is almost like a factory gas door.! ... show more

Excellent price and happy to have it but disappointed with the quality. It won't take long for this to get rusty too but given that it is thinner metal, it won't last as long. Also most metals in cheap products have a low ore level and rust quickly to the point of structural failure within a short period of time. Will likely paint it try to prevent further rusting that has already taken place after two months. ... show more
