Top Amazon Reviews

  • In depth review for hesitant people… In depth review for hesitant people…
I purchased this item because of its major feature. Solar charging and how long it holds a charge. The second reason was the fitness element. The third is the golf course stuff. (I’ll come back after golfing to give a review about that.) Some things I noticed in the other reviews which gave me hesitance before I pulled the trigger on the purchase. 1. People liked their Apple Watch more -reasons for this were the brightness of the screen I’ll address that claim first because I feel like it’s the easiest reason to dislike this watch. I showed multiple screens of the watch in my pics. The watch is not bright when you don’t tap the screen. Anyone complaining is find a reason for this as they clearly bought something that holds charge. To hold charge it cannot have a bright screen. It uses mirrors to create it’s light and to conserve power the screen is not bright unless tapped on. I’d actually call this an ADVANTAGE because every time I’d turn my wrist on my Apple Watch that annoyed me that it would drain battery. 2. Other concerns were the weight. - these are weird concerns in the end. People switching from a standard smart watch to this will feel more weight however I like watched. I like real watches. Not just smart. This is significantly lighter than my diver, and about as heavy as my lighter feminine watches. It is REALLY light weight by that standard. Given I have the lightest but I saw weight complaints for that. I own a tissot and it’s lighter than my tissot. I saw a review which worried me with a guy saying they were shocked at its weight and couldn’t get the lightest for their wife. No offense but have more faith! Anyone complaining about weight should get an Apple Watch because they clearly don’t want a tool watch, the Apple Watch is a gadget. This is a tool. It tries to not be distracting and engaging and do what it needs then get out of the way. The Apple Watch is a device you can use to fidget with and will keep you occupied. The Garmin is utilitarian. 3. Complaints about pricing were often paired with the above “problems.” For the price it shouldn’t weigh x. For the price it should be brighter. These people were not aware of what they needed and thought they wanted a product like this because of charge etc. they were wrong. These are not problems if you understand the exact purpose of this watch. If you want a charge you cannot also have a constant light. If you want a lighter watch you cannot have sapphire and all the elements built into this watch which for its processing power is quite light. Also- you clearly don’t wear watches for dress or daily outside of Apple Watches if you believe this is heavy. (The largest size is owned by my cousin, and he said it was heavy but once gotten used to it was fine. This one would be for a larger person, a taller man, or someone who can handle the weight.) Notes: the app was easy to download, there are two. One app is for the watch, the other is an app which allows you to integrate other apps onto it. Basically an app library. Other thoughts: this is not a good watch for an older person who is not capable of understanding new navigations after getting used to the way mac works. If they have to be taught to use it, it will be too hard for them to get some of it. After 10 minutes at 26 years old I managed to navigate it promptly. However there are some features I’ll look at the manual to understand better. Swiping is easy on it and so is the ability to navigate to sports and more. Complains outside of the brave listed were for ease of use. I would say anyone complaining about that needs something more friendly to them. Not user friendly, as it is user friendly, but some are not WILLING to put in any time. If it’s not easy there’s a tech type who just want it done for them. (I have instructed them and unfortunately my dads that type. 73 and just wants me to fix it not help him learn to do it.) If you’re not willing to take 30 minutes to watch a YouTube video or read the manual don’t buy it. The easiest parts are self explanatory but there’s 5 buttons on the watch and they all do different things. The bottom button on the left sets a timer for example which isn’t how Apple Watch works. But it’s freaking easy! Stop complaining! If you want a watch which is standard in weight, long charge, functional, sends notifications, tracks work outs, and does exactly what it says it will do get a Garmin. I have ADHD and my issue is never remembering to charge. If I do charge I leave the watch behind. I now don’t have to REMEMBER. Thank god It has a “find my phone” feature and since I am very ADHD this is amazing. It is so loud. If you’re complaining about tapping the screen or other basics it’s better to get a different watch. This is convenience based and that small tap isn’t inconvenient but if it bothers you other things about this watch surely will. I think it’s an easy way to justify being mad about the price. Another review noted they didn’t like their notifications kept coming through in meetings. That is weird because well…. It has a do not disturb button. You just need to turn it on ... show more

  • Fenix is the best
Color: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Shale Gray... Style: 7S Sapphire Solar Pattern Name: Smartwatch
I'm an Ironman triathlete who also does other sports as well. I like this watch a lot. Previously I had a fitbit - which is poorly made and suffers from lots of glitches; then I had a Vivoactive - which was pretty good, although it needed recharging every 4 or 5 days. My wife (at my urging) got this for me for my birthday after I saw the on-line review by DC Rainmaker. I've had it a few months now and I really like it. Be aware, that it's a physically large watch - not a problem for me at 6'4". I like the being able to select the activity and record it with my watch. Monitoring HR can be done optically or - more my preference - with a bluetooth HR strap for better accuracy. I play competitive table tennis (I played in the US Open a few decades ago) and I miss not being able to select that as an activity (I use indoor Pickleball instead as "close enough"). The associated Garmin Connect app does a good job of collecting workout data, although I have it pass the workout data out to Training Peaks where I manage my training. I've been in the Garmin ecosphere already since I have a Garmin computer on my bicycle and use Garmin power pedals, and the watch integrates well in that ecosphere. As to non-workout features, the flash light is surprisingly useful and I also like being able to put my credit card in the watch so I can buy food and drinks when I'm 60 miles from home on my long bike rides. I especially appreciate the long battery life. I recharge my watch every 3 or 4 weeks, and it recharges quickly. The watch isn't inexpensive, but it is well-made and feature-rich. ... show more

  • The best fitness watch! The best fitness watch!
I absolutely love my Garmin. I have had two other Garmin watches in the past, but this one is by far my favorite it tracks so many different things like your sleep your VO two max. I mainly use my watch for running and lifting weights. It has a very accurate GPS you have the option to design your own course and send it to your watch. You also have the option to design your own workouts and send them to your watch as well. It is both touchscreen and there are buttons on the side, to toggle up and down and back and forth. It monitors your heart rate, your oxygen, your sleep, your respirations and based off of your sleep it can tell you how ready you are for your workout or for your run I would highly recommend it to anyone. ... show more

  • A Personal Trainer, Coach, and Doctor for Your Wrist!
Color: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Shale Gray... Style: 7S Sapphire Solar Pattern Name: Smartwatch
I’m a 70 year old road biker. It’s nothing short of amazing what this watch can teach and tell you! I feel like I have my coach, personal trainer, and doctor with me 24-7! Even if you’re not into fitness or athletics, this smartwatch is great for giving you immediate access to your present health, in addition to fitness. It works well in combination with my Garmin Edge 1040 Solar when I’m on my road bike, and I don’t miss a bit of data. The battery life is beyond outstanding. While the Garmin system might not be quite as “intuitive” as the Apple smartwatch, the level of performance and information is absolutely superior. I wear this watch constantly, in my workshop, workouts, office, traveling, training, and sleeping. It goes into the lake, and the shower with me, and it works flawlessly in every situation and setting. I have a black stainless steel band that works well in dress situations. It’s a go everywhere, do everything, everyday, and every setting device. ... show more

  • Almost perfect Almost perfect
Color: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Shale Gray... Style: 7S Sapphire Solar Pattern Name: Smartwatch
I'm a Fenix 5S+ user for more than 3 years. I briefly owned Fenix 6s and returned it because it doesn't support Asian languages. I ordered Fenix 7s sapphire solar next day it's announced. Let me elaborate the differences among these generations. Part1. Fenix 7 vs Fenix 5 1. 7 has much longer battery life. Almost three weeks vs 5's one week. This is huge, but I think it's mostly from better power management rather than solar charging. I wear it 7/24 and never take it off. I swim three days a week, one hour each time. I time my swim by the watch. For the 5, it often brushes off 10% of the battery by doing so. Now the 7 takes only 4% off the charge 2. 7 is 5.5 grams lighter than 5. See the pictures. This is huge. I can clearly feel the difference on the wrist. Dimensions are almost identical though. 3. 7 now reads respiration rate (breath per minute) and blood oxygen saturation (only manual check) other than heart rate 4. 7 includes all languages. As a contrast, you have to buy 5 or 6 in the country with your desired language. For example, a watch you buy in USA can't read anything written in Chinese. That was absurd. I'm glad Garmin realized it's 21st century now. 5. 7 comes with touch screen. Although I disable it most of the time. Only chance I feel like needing it is when I view maps. Touch screen does help to zoom in and out and move around. Viewing map on 5 is quite painful if not completely useless. Part2. Fenix 7 vs Fenix 6 To be honest, there's not much of difference between two generations other than 1. 7 has touch screen and 6 doesn't 2. 7 supports most languages and 6 doesn't 3. 7 has a bit more solar charging area than 6 So, if you don't need other language support and don't use map often, go ahead and grab a Fenix 6 instead. It would save you several hundred dollars, even more when it's on sale. Part3. A couple of things I expected on 7 but didn't get it 1. wireless charging. There's no reason to have plug-in charging nowadays. Data transfer isn't the reason. 2. There's a rumor that band charging is coming with 7. That'd be a giant step, but it isn't easy. 3. I wish screen contrast would be improved, at least as good as 5. I can feel the white isn't that white and all other colors are faint too except black. As a conclusion, it's worth upgrading from Fenix 5, but not so much from 6. Did I mention I returned my first 7? It kept shutting down all sensors. It's usually triggered by starting swim activity. All the sudden, none of sensors would work until you restart the watch. It occurred 3 times out of three weeks. The replacement hasn't had that issue since a month ago. ... show more

I love this watch! The GPS is accurate, the battery life is impressive, and the solar feature is the icing on the cake! The watch connected easily to my phone and has exceeded my expectations. It is comfortable to wear daily, including overnight to track sleeping data. I have very small wrists but the watch doesn’t look clunky or feel heavy. ... show more

I am really impressed by this watch. I had Fitbit before, and this is a HUGE upgrade. I got Fenix 7 solar, smaller size. I know it is not a cheap watch, but worth every penny.
