Purchased to replace and deteriorating black rug in a mud room. It has a nice low profile and we are able to open a door over it. The black is black, not a faded color. I did not have any missing fibers or pick marks on the rug. It was delivered folded, not rolled so I did have to steam the back to get the fold marks out. Dropped one star for the construction. There is a shiny poly like fabric that the carpet fibers are fastened to that is visible when looking straight down at the rug. It makes the rug look cheap- but the rug is cheap. So... I am an avid Amazon customer, and I usually know the quality of what I am going to get. Sometimes I choose to purchase lower quality because that's the type of product I need for the situation. If I need top quality, I know how to find it and I pay an appropriately higher priced item. In this case, I knew I wasn't buying a top quality rug. I was okay with that. I read the reviews and even the less positive reviews described what I needed-- a thinner, synthetic monochromatic rug. I think I had reasonable expectations. What I received was actually SHOCKING. The rug I received in the 12 x 12 size is SO BAD! I think I may have received one that someone returned? Half of the rug looks tattered and has holes where there were previous snags. The raised part that creates a patters is in worse shape on that half. Then the other half looks a bit better. If the whole thing looked like the better half, it would be much better. The way it is shipped is HORRIBLE. It is folded up and crammed into a box. Not rolled. Not protected by plastic. Nothing. Folded up like an old blanket and shoved in a box. Again, I'd be fine with the packaging except for the fact that it has left stretched out parts of the rug that will not settle down flat on the floor. It's terrible. Even though the price I paid (around $180) for a 12 x 12 is very inexpensive for the size, I'm just not sure the rug is worth much of anything. It would better be described as an outdoor carpet or something suitable for a warehouse or industrial setting. Yuck. So disappointed with the 12 x 12. What's strange is that we also ordered a 5 x 7 in the same color, and it is totally fine. It looks much better. The backing on it is much sturdier, and therefore it lays flat and looks like a carpet should, even though it's thinner. ... show more

    • My black runner and carpet sparkled...due to micro holes

The quality of the rug is good, but mine had micro holes in it, (it has a white backing) so it looks like it sparkles. You can see through it. I am returning 2 of the 3 I ordered, so hopefully the new ones won't have that issue. If they do, I will return them. I want a totally black carpet....
