Description

This waterproof log book is the perfect place for recording your work in the garden. Use this journal throughout the seasons, from building catalog wish lists early in the year, to noting the first signs of spring, to recording what vegetable crops you planted and their yield, to organizing yourself for bulb planting in fall, to, finally, putting the garden to bed for the winter. A five year grid at the beginning of each month offers space to note annual garden cycles over time, and journal entry pages are lined for notes or graphed for diagramming plantings. Whether you tend a window box, a cutting garden, or many raised vegetable beds, this is the perfect write-in companion to your gardening. This weatherproof five-year log book includes the following features: ·Sturdy waterproof cover to protect pages from rain and muddy soil ·Lined pages and gridded paper for plotting beds ·Five years of 12-month bloom and harvest grids for recording what you planted and when ·Authoritative appendices on composting, pruning, pest and disease control, and container gardening ·Useful reminders by season on fertilizing, mulching, and transplanting ·Space for listing your favorite sources and suppliers. • Covers the waterfront in info covered
l saw a youtube video reviewing several of the top selling Amazon garden logs. This fit the bill most closely, including a place for tracking planting and harvest dates over 5 years, garden sketches, garden notes, and including some basic info for garden pruning and other tasks. Only one I found that lays out flat with the binding, and has a wipe off cover with a little notch to keep the band secured in the right place. This was a gift and recipient was tickled pink! ... show more

  • I love this book
What I like. I like how small it is, easy to carry around and toss in a basket while I work. Has many years of records and what I am doing is keeping everything 5 years 10 years 20 years later so we can see or my kids can see when we planted something when we had a good year and so on. Love the layout I would buy again and give as a gift forsurea ... show more

  • Great Journal for Gardening
I am using this journal to log everything I have planted, when things bloom and ideas for other seasons. It has a lot of space for lists, diagrams and what to do seasonally. The only thing missing is section tabs, but I can easily add those myself. I recommend this as a gift to yourself or anyone starting a new home and garden. ... show more

  • vGardeners Log Book by NYBG
I would have liked more lined pages and less graph unless there was more space on the graph as in a slightly larger book. Would have really liked a place for seed starting, including the info on seed packets that are relative such as Name of plant, planting depth, Seed spacing, Plant spacing, Days to Germinate, and Germination temp, height, width, sun or shade. If I take the seeds from my garden and no longer have the seed packet this info would be handy and useful. Seeing the information on all plants close together would allow me to quickly scan seeds that plant at the same depth and need the same light requirements. Pages available for type of plant or name, fertilization info like when to fertilize and what type of fertilizer and preferred brand. I love the basic looks and content just really wanted the above pages or spaces. I used the lines and drew in the columns. I also appreciated all of the info on compost, container info and especially all the referrals to get more specific info on a number of topics. I also liked the book split by season and the planning guide in each section. I use the book quite a lot. Thank you ... show more

  • Great for new gardeners
This is prefect way to track everything about my garden for the next five years. I am still new to gardening so this will help me track what works and doesn’t work.

  • With a few tweaks this log book would be great
For starters, I definitely wish that this Garden Log was larger. Bigger pages would make it so much easier to write in. I love the graph paper for planning my garden layout, but it is tight - if you have a large garden this might not be your best bet. The pencil in my photo should give decent size comparison. I also wish there was more room for individual plant notes. My garden is focused on vegetables, so as a newer gardener I want more than just Bloom/Harvest months. It would be great to have headers for planting dates (i.e. 4 weeks before 1st frost), direct seed vs transplant requirements, sun requirements, and frost tolerances...etc. I also wish that this book had tabs to sort out the sections (I added my own). The appendices at the end are all very short, and they use more than half of the space to list other resources (namely website links). This is nice in principle if you plan to type out each url, but for most of us it seems rather obsolete. As a heads up, the book is organized by season, not year. The reminders at the beginning of each season are nice, but you'll find that many may not be applicable to you. They should dedicate a blank page for adding in your own seasonal and unique to-do list. Each year (by season) has 4 blank pages of lined paper, and 4 blank pages of graph paper. In the Winter section, there are 8 pages total for Year 1, then 8 pages for Year 2, and so on. The paper inside of the log is very nice and sturdy (it feels like rite-in-the-rain). I do wonder if the binding itself will actually hold up for 5 years...to be determined! All in all, I think this Garden Log would be great if it was larger and had additional space for personal note taking (and I'd be happy to pay more for it). ... show more
