I feel like these have become the quintessential "mom" jeans these days and I love the way they fit and the look! The jeans are exactly the quality I would expect from Gap, and they are very comfortable for all day wear. The shape is very straight-legged and definitely fits into the "barrel" category. They didn't have any significant shrinkage after being washed in cold water and tumble dried on "medium" heat on my GE dryer, and the color didn't run or fade at all after being laundered. The fit was perfectly true to size, and I would recommend just ordering them in your normal size and not going up or down a size. I am very happy with these jeans from Gap and would definitely recommend them!

Inconsistent sizing, probably best for slimmer frames

I will start off my review by saying that these jeans are well made - the denim is soft but on the thicker side compared to many other jeans I have tried. Similarly, the stitching seems very solid and strong. There's some stretch to the denim, but they don't feel like a cheap denim/lycra blend. However, inconsistent sizing and unusual proportions make this not a winner in my book (caveat being that I don't think I have the right body type for these). The first thing I'll note is that the sizing seems (or maybe, seemed) inconsistent. Before placing an order for these jeans, I looked up their sizing information and other reviews directly from The Gap. One thing that stuck out to me was that the principal complaint was that they ran small - like, two sizes or more small. I'm a size 12/32 waist in Gap sizing, with a pear-ish shape. On the recommendation of other reviewers, I ordered a 34 waist - with the expectation that if these sat at my natural waist, great - and if they sat lower/closer to my hips, I could hem them if needed. Well, The Gap must have fixed their undersizing issues because these are very, very large on me - I would have to wear a belt to keep them on my hips at all. This is a good thing, all in all - if you're unsure, I'd still order one size up and wear a belt if needed. Similarly , the inseam/leg length seems on par - if you know if you prefer a short or regular length, these shouldn't be a surprise to you. However, that leads me to my second criticism: these are almost comically wide legged. I think, in an attempt to keep the sizing proportions even, the leg diameter/circumference scales linearly with the waist size. This results in something I could best describe as looking like 90s JNCO jeans when you're at a large size or bigger, instead of the cute "I stole my boyfriend's jeans" look that the model depicts. (I kind of suspected that going in, but wanted to give them a shot - I was hoping to get a pair of comfortable, slightly oversized work/house jeans). Unfortunately, these are so large/billowy that I can't even use these as "house/gardening/garage" pants. Tldr: great quality, the Gap may have fixed their undersizing issue (but I'd recommend ordering *one* size up if you're unsure), and I wouldn't recommend these to larger or plus size frames. If you're a slimmer gal looking to relive early 2000s ultra wide legged jeans, I think these could work for you.

stylish, high-quality, 100% cotton jeans; long version is great for taller gals

I was a bit worried based on some of the other reviews that these might be too wide-leg for me, but I was actually pleasantly surprised to really love these jeans. I got a size 31 long, which looks on me (5'8", 168 lb) almost exactly like the larger model for the medium indigo color, if you scroll through the product photos. The legs are wide, but I don't find them to be too wide at all, they are just accurate to a barrel style jean. I'm so glad they make the long version, which I would recommend for anyone 5'8" or above. Even though I'm not incredibly tall, sometimes regular jeans cause "front wedgies" which is awful, and these jeans do not! For me, the long version hit exactly as shown in the image of the larger model (slightly below ankle). LOVE that they are 100% cotton, unlike the vast majority of modern jeans. Without the stretch material, they are going to last longer and the feel of the material simply feels better quality. They are machine washable which is great. I actually think this style is quite flattering, especially if you want to accentuate your hips or if you are a little top heavy and want to create a more balanced look. I could see how someone who already has a pronounced pear shape may not find these the most flattering. Just be careful to check the size chart, because especially as you go up in size, the size starts to drift further away from your actual waist size, so I could see someone accidentally ordering the wrong size. Overall, I really like these jeans, am happy with the fit and quality, and will be wearing them frequently!

I was searching for a pair of comfortable, darker blue denim jeans. These GAP Women’s High Rise Barrel Denim Jeans exceeded my expectations and met all the criteria I had in mind. I’m 5’4” tall and I weigh about 125lbs, and these fit me absolutely incredible. I ordered them in a size 28 Short , Dark Rinse color. It’s incredible how these women’s barrel jeans fit me perfectly around the waist and bottom, then gradually widen and then narrow again as they move down the legs. I found them incredibly comfortable, allowing me to move, bend, and stretch more easily than most of my current jeans. I want to also share, I am in my 60s, and these fit me absolutely amazing, and I truly feel comfortable in them. In my opinion, there is definitely not an age gap here because I like them and I’m going to continue to wear them. The fabric is 100% cotton, making them breathable, and even more comfortable. They are also machine washable, which I truly appreciate this feature. These pull-on High Rise Barrel Denim Jeans feature a zipper front and metal button closure, five belt loops around the waist. The five pockets are all in the right places, with a little added pocket on the right side above the front pocket. The pockets are all usable, and I can fit my phone very easily in either the back pockets or the front pockets. In my opinion, this is why I like wearing pants with pockets,, definitely for style and for usability. I found double stitching pretty much everywhere through out these pair of jeans, except for the side seams on the outer part of the jeans. In my opinion, the stitching makes these a better quality pair of jeans. OVERALL… These jeans are quite expensive, but the quality is exceptional. I’m still trying to understand the reason behind their high price, possibly due to their brand name. If you’re seeking a stylish, contemporary, and incredibly comfortable pair of jeans, regardless of your age, these are an excellent choice. I thoroughly enjoyed these jeans and was not disappointed. I believe you won’t be either!

My fashion-obsessed teen is absolutely over the moon with these Gap jeans! Apparently the kids at school noticed and were loving them too. For middle school girls - this is NOT a common occurrence lol. It’s given my kiddo a real confidence boost, and that’s what fashion is supposed to do. These jeans hit ALL the points with high marks. They are: True to size High quality by every measure (fabric, construction, fit ect) Flattering On trend Comfortable The model in my pics is 5’4, 110 lbs, and a size 4. She’s wearing the 27”. She has a long torso and average leg length. The length on the jeans for her are not ankle height like the model in the listing. She can step on the hem with her heel without shoes on. This is good though in our opinion. The last picture shows where the hem hits with legs bent. (While not a stretchy denim, the superb construction allows for free movement and is extremely comfortable). The waist hits her right at the navel. For a short-torso gal, these jeans probably won’t hit right in your midsection. For a juniors’ body type these are a home run. Cannot recommend them enough!

Unflattering style

My wife likes how durable these jeans are - no stretch, old fashioned denim that will last years. However, try as she might she just can’t love the barrel style. She is 5’2”, 118 lbs and curvy. She ordered 27 short, which fit, with a bit of a waist gap. This style overemphasizes her hips. If you are built stick straight and very skinny, these would look good on you. But my wife just can’t do it.

Great GAP jeans

These were nice. The sizing was perfect and fit comfortably. The material is nice and thick without being or feeling heavy. There was no odor that needed airing out. The length was perfect for my height. Glad that there were different options in sizing and length. They washed well, too. I just need to figure out how to style these since they are out of my comfort style of sweat pants and leggings.
