I get the distinct impression that most of the reviewers here are confused as to what a ballet neck shirt entails. In short, this style of top has a high-cut neck in front and a lower scoop neck in back, similar to a leotard (hence ballet neck). The back scoop on this shirt is pretty modest, but to reiterate, the shirt is NOT printed backwards; you guys are wearing your shirts backwards. As far as quality, this is pretty much exactly what I expect from modern Gap. The fabric is a bit thin, but not to the point of tissue paper; however, you'll want to wash on delicate if you want them to last. I wouldn't buy these at full price, but on sale it's a good deal. The one nice thing about the back not being all that low is that it is very bra-friendly, even if you don't get to show off your shoulders as much. If you like a bit of room in your tops you might want to consider sizing up. I wear a size L in most brands and decided to go with an XL for comfort, which for me was the right decision--it's loose without being baggy when going that route, but if you like form-fitting tops I'd say it's otherwise true to size.

I copied Siobhan Mckenney's review (...literally). She expressed it exactly as I intended. Bad piecing, fit is off. Feels like outlet. Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2023 Verified Purchase This is supposed to be a boatneck neckline with a scoop in the back. Except the shirt is effectively sewn as if the scoop is meant to be worn in front - the shoulder seams are too far forward for the shirt to be worn as a boatneck. Fits much more naturally worn backwards, but oops! The tag printing is directly on the shirt, and the material is thin enough to notice the print showing through. This feels like the lower grade, badly made outlet stuff that Gap releases with their label. Not worth it.

These tops are designed to be worn with the scoop in the back because the GAP logo is printed on the scoop side. Here’s a big BUT, they feel a lot more comfortable wearing the scoop in the front. It feels like it’s pulling my neck back if I wear it with the boat style neck in front. So, if you can get over this, it’s a great fitting top with just enough stretch to be comfortable, not tight. Ignore the logo, because once you put it on, you can’t see it and it doesn’t show through once it’s against your skin. Even the photos show the scoop in the front…crazy!

Very soft and comfortable. The only problem is the printed gap markings are on the front, not in the back. I had a few friends check it to make sure I wasn’t stupid and they all said it’s supposed to be on the back but it’s on the front. I bought the white and and stripe. On the white shirt, you can see the label through the material. Given the cost I think they are fine as long as you wear a necklace or perhaps a scarf to cover the label on the white

I do see what the other reviewer said about the tag (label printed on fabric, not tag) being on the wrong side. It’s not as it’s meant to wear with the low “v” in the back. However, most would like the “v” in the front. So it would have been more ideal to put their screen print “tag” somewhere where on the garnet so that it could be worn either way. The fabric is a quality grade. Not super thin as many are nowadays. I have washed and dried mine a couple of times. There is some shrinkage, but it’s not substantial. Still has the longer length I prefer and need (being 5’8).
