Works good to do your own brakes. Much easier than trying to use a wood clamp or large C clamp to compress brake caliper. This is not a high dollar tool, mine arrived with a broken magnet so the larger plate will not hold onto the smaller for larger brake calipers. Don’t be surprised if yours arrives with an issue.

Just finished changing rotors & adding new brake pads to one of our cars. This worked great for the front breaks that has a standard piston you need to drive back in to make room for the new pads. This is much easier to use over a large C clamp I had been using. The ratcheting was easy to use & drive the pistons back with not much effort. You do need to had squeeze these when expanding or reducing the gap as the ratchet does not work when there is no tension. These don't work with rear pistons that need to be twisted to move back into the caliper, for those you can rent a tool at your auto-parts store (or purchase if you do this a lot). Fortunately only 1 of our 5 cars has these so this tool can be used for all of our brake pad changes.

Works ok but could expand a little more the compress a double piston caliper. It compressed the calipers on my F250 super duty, however when I went to place the caliper back on over the pads I still had to use a “C” clamp to get the piston back slightly farther back which I was trying to avoid by using this tool. However ok buy for the money.
