  • Max Control = Maximum Safety, Comfort, and Performance !!
Style: Front Pattern Name: 77375
There are lots of shock absorbers on the market, but only the Gabriel MAX CONTROL offers all these features in one high-quality shock absorber : 1.- New rod guide bearing allows greater sensitivity and response. 2.- Larger bore size ( 1 13/16ths") inside the pressure tube enables the shocks to react quicker and creates a smoother and more comfortable ride. 3.- Super-finished chromed piston rod provides more consistent wear surface for proper seal lubrication over longer life. 4.- Single-tube design and multi-stage sealing minimize fluid chamber temperature and help keep out debris for long-lasting durability. 5.- D.O.M. (Drawn-Over-Mandrel) tubing reduces internal wear for a longer life. 6.- High-pressure nitrogen gas and floating piston technology allow the shock to react immediately to steering wheel movements for ultimate handling. 7.- Additional external rod seal keeps the chamber virtually debris-free for longer lasting performance under all conditions. 8.- Enhanced sensitivity and quicker response time keep tires in contact with the road to maximize braking effectiveness and keep you in control. The #77375 fits many models of Chevy-GMC vans. (FRONT) Also fits 1993-2002 Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis (FRONT) for both POLICE and High-Performance touring. Each shock comes with upper bushings/washers/nut -- dust boot, and pre-mounted lower bushing. And a decal, too ! Easy installation takes just a few minutes, with no special skills or tools required. The 77375 MAX-CONTROL is the go-to shock for the Crown Vic P-71 chassis, and my Grand Marquis restoration rides and handles like a European road machine -- with no brake dive, no pitch or yaw, and it handles cross-winds, mountain roads and curves with ease and comfort. AND -- the MAX-CONTROL comes backed by Gabriel's Lifetime Warranty -- if they fail at any time, return 'em to the seller (with receipt) for replacement or full refund. I priced the Gabriel 77375 at AutoZone, O'Reilley's, and Rock Auto -- and Amazon had the best price -- by far !! I've been riding on Gabriel shocks since the 70's -- for my passenger cars, vans, and off-road vehicles -- and I recommend Gabriel shocks and struts to my friends and family for the best combination of price, performance, and longevity. ... show more

  • Excellent Rear shock choice for my 2009 Chevy Express Van 1500.
Style: Rear Pattern Name: 77638
Wow! What a difference in ride, control, and sound a set of good shocks makes. My 2009 Express van has low miles for the age at only about 70K miles, but she was weak in suspension for the rear. Sloppy handling and noisy. These shocks were easy to install and made the van ride better than a new one. Towing was a big need for me to have control and these shocks handled the task perfectly towing my 16 ft box trailer over 2000 round trip. I am very pleased with the purchase and highly recommend this set for your van or truck. ... show more

  • "Great Deal" ended up being poor quality and very costly
Style: Front Pattern Name: 77847
First, let me state that I had these professionally installed on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It started out that the rubber bushings needed to install at the top of the shock was missing. The shop where I had them installed ordered new bushings and completed the install. At first, things were going well. The ride was smooth and it improved the handling. After about 5000 miles, a weird popping sound started when days got really cold. It sounded like it was coming from somewhere in the front, but I never thought it was the shocks. Since the Jeep has 125K miles, I started thinking that it was just old age and it didn't like the cold. After 7500 miles, there was a rattle noise that occurred over on every small bump and pothole. Concerned for the safety of the Jeep, I took it back to the shop. After almost a full day of testing, they finally determined that it was the shocks. All the shocks have developed a 2 - 3 inch dead spot at the top of the compression stroke. I had to buy 4 new shocks (KYB) and pay the installation charges again plus the time to diagnose the issue. I would avoid this product. ... show more

  • Fix your handling
Style: Rear Pattern Name: 75676
We all put off doing shocks and struts too long. In my case, this 2000 TransAm WS/6 still had the factory struts and shocks until a few days ago. These (and new front struts) restored the factory ride and handling! That's all I wanted. Rear shocks are really easy to do. 1) Pull the rear carpet forward. Remove the foam shock mount point cover. 2) Undo the nut on top. 3) Jack the car up, leaving the axle hanging. 4) Remove the big nut on the bottom. Putting it back together, you'll attach the bottom nut first. The kit can go 2 ways around. I attached mine so the flanged side and stud was pointing out. When you're ready, you need to cut the wire to release the shock's rod. You have to get it aimed at the hole. If you don't keep it aimed well, it'll catch on the body. When you screw that up (you will at least once), undo the lower mount, put the upper rod through the hole, and muscle the shock up to get the lower bolt back in place. It's doable, it just requires some effort. I didn't seem to be able to keep the boot on the end at full extension. You might be able to get it on with the car on it's wheels, but I didn't try yet. Really, it's a decoration unless you're offroading. A street car like mine won't see dirt unless something goes tragically wrong. ... show more
