This thing is surprisingly large, given the compact form it takes when folded. And strong. There is nothing flimsy about this umbrella. The double action open/close button works well. The spring it takes to do all that work is quite strong - collapsing the central rod meant putting it upside down on a flat surface and pulling it down. Trying to do it with just two hands was quite difficult. But given the proliferation of strong, flat surfaces in our lives, that's not a problem.

Sadly… this umbrella was not functioning right out of the box. It opened once… then wouldn’t close. Then wouldn’t open again. Size wise… it’s impressive. I purchased this because of the number of ribs it had, which is more than most. It sounded like it was made of quality materials.

This looks to be decently made and a clever/compact design, but right out of the package the button is jammed and the umbrella doesn't pop open, doesn't extend the handle, nor will it stay open. I will fiddle with it some more and see if I can trick it into working. UPDATE: I took the handle apart and there is a spring-loaded pawl that keeps returns the button to a ready state after depressing. The pawl extends at a right angle to the direction of button press, permanently preventing it from rotating out of the way and allowing the button mechanism to move. I used a 3D pen and put a little booger of PLA filament on the mechanism side to keep the pawl from fully extending to a 90° angle. Success...mostly. The umbrella does pop up now, but does not collapse every time with a 2nd button press. At least it is usable now! It is easily collapsed by hand by grasping the plastic base of the umbrella linkages and pulling down toward the handle until it latches.

It’s a great sized umbrella but mine broke after the about the 5th time I opened it. One of the pieces holding one of the joints of the umbrella broke. It still works pretty well though just a might annoyance knowing it doesn’t properly open.
