  • Easy to use
Color: Red Item Display Length: 25.0 Inches
These seem to be well made for the money. I have never snow shoed before and this looked like the perfect deal to try as it includes poles and everything. I was happy to find they are easy to put on and adjust and the poles were easy to adjust for my height also. I did not give it 5 stars simply because they forgot yo put the leg gaters and goggles in. I have reached out to the seller and they responded within 48 hrs. ... show more

  • Good for starting out
Color: Blue Item Display Length: 21.0 Inches
I do a fair bit of snowshoeing and I'm happy with my MSR Lightning snowshoes, which I can take on or off trail, tackle moderately steep terrain and pretty much any snow type. I got these for one of my sons to try out (he's a skier but never tried snowshoeing). Based on the price my expectations were not high. I was surprised to find these are pretty decent shoes, as long as you stick to trails, or at least reasonably level terrain. Off trail I think most people would sink in these unless you are on the low end of the weight scale for your shoe size, or on hard pack. The shoes seem sturdy and are lightweight. I like the ratcheting straps up front and the snap-on heel strap, which make it much easier to get your shoes on. That's a big deal for someone starting out. I've seen way too many people loose a shoe because they had overly tricky straps. That can be down right dangerous in the wrong spot. The poles are also pretty nice too. The bag is cheap, but it's good enough if you are careful with it. Overall I think this is a good set for getting started. If you decide you like it, you can always spend more on a set of shoes that will let you go off trail or take on some terrain. If you know that's what you want, these would not be the shoes for you. ... show more

  • Well-made - not as lightweight as they look -- take some getting used to
Color: Blue Item Display Length: 21.0 Inches
I've been snowshoeing since the late 80's -- with a pair of wood (ash) and sinew Modified Bear Paw snowshoes (from a hunting and fishing catalog), Ski Poles (from the local skiers store) ands 2 different pairs of bindings for my shoes -- one pair expandable rubber and one pair leather. I also have Nylon and rubber snow gaiters from a certain suppler in Maine. I've always been interested in the aluminum snowshoes and this set affords me a chance to wear and compare. First of all, the price for this set is Excellent!! It is actually less than what I paid for all my old snowshoeing supplies 36 years ago. The fact that everything comes in its own carry bag is very helpful. The snowshoes are smaller and lighter than my wooden ones (which are still usable). The Ski Poles, which collapse are attractive but have a few faults - 1- be sure to tighten the knurled knobs before you extend and use them and check them occasionally-- or the ski poles CAN collapse when in use. The optional bails which can attach to the bottom of the ski poles (after undoing the rubber feet on the poles) came in a thin plastic bag -- I discarded that and used what I had on hand to store them (and the rubber feet) - a nylon bag (in this case white-- I had no black ones) which is easily stored in the carry bag and easily visible. As for the nylon straps for the ski poles -- they are too easy to come undone-- I measured and fitted them to my hands/wrists and once I adjusted them I sewed them closed with a few stitches. One less thing to worry about when in the snow. And the gaiters -- a bit cumbersome to put on -- and the elastric strap ended in a loop which could easily get caught on a branch while snowshoesing, and send the person flying. Instead of ending in a loop-- that loop should be cut in half and knotted -- keeping the gaiters from getting caught on a branch. Comparing the gaiters to my old ones-- I like my old ones better-- they attach to my shoe soles with elastic and a metal hook which is very close to the bottom of the shoe thus not prone to getting caught on anything. And the tops of my old gaiters adjust with metal snaps. USING these snowshoes is an education in itself-- they ARE smoooth, and glide on the snow while the claws underneath them grip the snow, even fluffy snow. But as for the claws-- which I hope are replaceable should the time come, they are going to eventually saw through their nylon carry bag. I am looking for flexible plastic like the kind you find in many giveaway cloth shopping bags - and will line the inside of the snowshoe carry bags with them. That should take care of any problems. The shoe bindings are very smooth, lock in place -- and I like the quick release. The bag, when filled, can be carried with a shoulder strap or by the handle on the top. I see velcro loops on one side as well. Altogether a VERY nice set, well thought out -- with a few of my ideas on how to modify it for my personal needs and concerns. ... show more

  • Solid Starter Set
Color: Orange Item Display Length: 30.0 Inches
These are a great starter set of snowshoes. I ordered them with 4 others for the family to start snowshoeing this winter and after the first 5 miles, I'm very happy with the choice. The snowshoes look very cool. I like the color of the orange and the design. I appreciate having different colors and styles so there is never a question about who's are who's. I like the combination of the very solid ratchet buckles in the front with the rubber strap in the back. The pivot point worked very well and never once gave a hint of not working smoothly. The poles are nice. They have a visible quick-release style tightening system that allows them to collapse to nearly a third of the full size. They needed to be adjusted when I first tightened them the same way you would a removable front tire on a bike works. Compared with other poles where you have to twist the pole to hold them in place, I like the visibility of this system. No question about when they are latched or not. The included gaiters seem like they will work fine although I haven't had a day with enough powder to need to use them. At the current price of about $90, this seems to be a great set. Overall happy with the "G2 30 Inches Light Weight Snowshoes for Women Men Youth, Set with Trekking Poles, Tote Bag, Gaiters, Special Fast Ratchet Binding, Orange". ... show more
