This Series are made of 12mm CARB grade Medium density composite wood Made from recycled materials of rubber trees. All the materials are manufactured in Malaysia and comply with the Green rules of production. There is no foul smell, durable and the material is the most stable amongst the medium density composite woods. Great product for the money I spent. This shelf is fairly easy to put together with just a screw driver and hammer. I did find it annoying that I had to undo one shelf because it was slightly pushed forward compared to the others, but it was an easy fix and my fault. My only other complaint is that the back wall of the shelf is a tad small and it is hard to center it perfectly and make sure the nails have enough to "grab" when they're hammered in. It's pretty sturdy, but I do feel like it won't last that long - I hope I'm wrong because it does look really nice. ... show more

    • Shelves too short for most hardcover cookbooks

I bought three of these to hold my cookbook and craft books. They were the right height for my space, and three would hold all my books with a little room to spare. I like the smaller profile of the cases, and for the price I would recommend them as a short term solution while finding a better shelf. They went together easily but are very flimsy and wobbly on their own. The three grouped together did stabilize them a bit. I did have two screws push through the very brittle particle board and out the paper thin laminate but that was partially my fault as the screw was slightly crooked going in. My main complaint is that I wanted these for my cookbooks which tend to be hardcover and oversized. And these shelves are not tall enough for the books to stand upright. I stacked them on their sides instead and it will work, but be aware that the shelves wont hold much more than a 9 inch tall book. So trade paperbacks are good, most hard covers or magazines are not. ... show more

I had books all over my house and in the course of creating a work/office space, I decided to consolidate my books. Went to the habitat for humanity restore and a few estate sales, but in both cases the cost was high and not sufficient without mix match cases. Seeing these, I decided to give them a try and ordered two. I figured the cost wasn't significant and they only need to hold books. Assembly was about 15 minutes per. Pleased with the first two, I ordered an additional two. I extremely recommend using a handheld screwdriver because it is a low amount of torque to go from tight to wrung out. A power screwdriver will strip the screw hole quickly. I also only nailed around the perimeter on the back. The shelf thickness isn't very thick and would be easy to miss when nailing. When I attached the cases together, I predrilled and countersunk each hole; otherwise, the thin veneer with chip. I also cut down each screw, so that it would not penetrate through the other case. Now my books are in one location and they cabinetry looks uniformed for a very reasonable cost. ... show more

These are perfect for what I wanted them for. They are very sturdy and quick and easy to assemble. The size was what I needed when I was looking for bookcases to go between my kitchen bar.and cabinets to put my cookbooks in. I am very pleased with them.

Overall pretty good and not difficult to assemble, but does require you to have a screwdriver + hammer. Docked a point because the advertising didn't say that assembly and tools are required. Also it feels lazy of them not to laminate both sides of the shelves. From the bottom you can see that it's made from cheap particle board. The stickers for labeling the different parts are too abrasive and cause the laminate to peel off. For $30-35 (in 2023) though it still feels like a pretty good value. Would probably buy again ... show more
