5 stars - best gift I ever bought my cat she LOVES it. Re: Assembly - The lid is already assembled and the box part just pops open and the lid fits snugly on top.) I opened the box outside and just as I finished putting it together my senior cat jumped in and immediately claimed it. Re: Durability - It is made of cardboard that is covered in fabric - but for my two cats it's sturdy enough. Re: Comfort - As others have stated in the review, the bottom is a hard piece of cardboard with some furry fabric on it. What I did was put my cat blanket in (with a pee pad underneath) and then added in her cat bed. This way IF there is an accident, the bottom of the house is not ruined - and ALSO my cat is sleeping in her perfectly plush bed - in her house. Re: Practicality - My purpose in purchasing this was to give my senior cat a place to "hide" and to have some peace and quiet. Unlike other places she hides, I can easily find her here. I LOVE that I can lift the lid up to pick her up, this is so much easier than trying to coax or pull her out of hiding when she needs to eat. PLUS with the way it is constructed, it's nice and dark in there for her to curl up for a nap - but light enough for me to look in the "mouse hole" to see her. Re: Cat's Review - They both give it 5 stars. My senior cat is so much more comfortable now with her cat bed snug inside her little house - and it is quieter for her too - and dark. It also keeps playfully naughty sister from bothering her and yet allows them to sit together. Note: IF there was competition for the house, I would buy a 2nd for the younger cat, but she has been content to let her older sister be the sole owner :) ... show more

My one cat is like a giant and he loves this and it fits him perfectly. Others jump on it doesn't seem to bed or move. He does scratch the walls and stuff. That has been holding up. Cats & puppy alike use this constantly. Either their watching out the window, taking a nap on top, or pulling toys out from the inside & playing. It took longer to get out of the packaging then it did to put together. Strong enough my husband can sit on it. You really can't go wrong with this.

Very nice quality! soft velvet inside. Sturdy top. My dog is a maltese mix about 13 pounds. I thought it was too small for him at first but he can crouch to get it. We started giving him treats to go inside. It took him a long time (many months) to get used to it, but now he goes in there and naps sometimes! Pretty often lately. It's so cute. We have it in front of a window and he jumps on top to look out. Overall, quiet pleased with it! (Doesn't help with thunderstorms, as I had hoped. But it's still good.) ... show more

I did not have very high expectations for this due to the construction of it. I have had other things made of similar material that ended up not being very sturdy. This surprised me, it is well made, sturdy, and my cat loves it. It came with a toy to hang from the entrance of it, which was a nice perk(it did not last long, he is a little rough with toys). My significant other was convinced by me to adopt a miniature Yorkshire Terrier. I had one that lived for 16 years before passing away a few months before the adoption was final. I bought this because I noticed that my sweet puppy enjoyed having a little place to hide inside on top of his mountain of toys. Promptly encouraged this purchase. He enjoyed it very much but he was quickly overwhelmed by the unbelievable level of toys he had accumulated. The box was now full after he carefully placed every toy in the box and left him with no room to enter and get comfortable. Enough time left like that and he lost interest in napping in there however he was always there arranging things just so he could get out the toy at the very bottom and act like he had to play with the specific toy instead of the other ones that were thrown around everywhere in the process. Today, this is in very good shape, a few months ago it was donated to a family as something that they could gift their rescue Cat. I became very sick after a cervical surgery and when I was at my lowest my ex-fiancée kicked me while I was down by leaving me completely unexpected. As I was sitting in the hospital for the 11th time in 6 months and I only tell because it’s the truth and I said I was at my worst because she took my dog away from me. I needed to get most of the things that reminded me of my dog and either move them or donate them. The cat using it currently is attached to this pet home. ... show more

I got this to replace an ugly cardboard box setting in my living room for the cats to play with. This ottoman works great, the cats love the padded top and the cave. Its got a nice long, wide top so my large male cat can stretch out like he did on the cardboard box. The ottoman is surprisingly sturdy and can handle cats jumping on and off it and even humans sitting on it. The only problem is the cats have started sharpening their claws on it and the fabric wasn't designed for that abuse. I'll attach a scratch pad to the side to hopefully save the ottoman from destruction. Overall a very good purchase. ... show more
