On May 8th my Rechargeable Travel Makeup Mirror by Funtouch arrived via Amazon. I was super excited to receive it since this is a product I’ve had my eye on for quite some time and was eager to check it out. I mostly wanted to discover if it was easy to use both at home and on-the-go. For years I’ve struggled with mini or travel sized mirrors since I find that they’re of poor quality and feel so downgraded compared to my at-home mirror. But in certain situations, it’s better to take one with you just to make sure you have something to use while applying your makeup. Loved the packaging for the mirror and it arrived in perfect condition of course. It comes with the LED makeup mirror, the 10x magnifying mirror (attachment), a USB cable for charging it, and the product instruction manual. I found out there’s also 3 color modes (cool, natural, warm), and a touch screen that dims in terms of brightness when you need it to. Everything is super simple to use! Also, it’s very handy that it’s slim and flat because you can easily insert it into your go-to bag for times when you need to take it out of the house with you. It’s actually designed almost like a flip phone when it ships to you but then you can set it up however you like before using it. I allowed it to charge fully before testing it out from 5/8/23 - 5/22/23. 14 days — 2 full weeks. THOUGHTS/REVIEW: Right off the bat, this mirror allows you to see absolutely every imperfection on your skin. Texture, pores, blemishes, redness, fine lines — you name it, it’s all right before your eyes. Whatever you’ve been using before, toss it out because this is the real deal. As someone that has struggled with skin issues their whole life, I fully know the importance of good skincare. It’s essential to applying your makeup nicely. That’s where this mirror comes in, it shows you absolutely everything. It was literally impossible not to use it all the time, and on-the-go. You start to feel dependent on it once you experience the ease of using it. My car doesn’t have a good visor mirror, so at times I would bring my Funtouch mirror with me and when I had an event, it really came in handy. I got so many compliments on my makeup at that event. I think it’s because I felt more confident when applying more makeup instead of just sticking with my usual routine. It can be really fun to express yourself and step out of your comfort zone. Side notes: At first I found it to be a bit too bright, but it was really easy to adjust that and to change the color mode as well. The battery lasted for quite some time and I didn’t feel like I had to constantly charge it or anything. I must add that I pretty much didn’t use the 10x magnifying mirror, but it was nice to have around in case I did ever need it. My only thoughts of critique are that I wish it came in more colors (I got it in white) and that there was a smaller variation of it. That’s about it though! Firstly, the packaging is excellent. I have never received a package that has been packed so well, and it makes sense because I worry about things like glass getting broken during delivery. Secondly, I have been desperately needing a mirror with a decent light and the fact that this comes with a brightness adjuster is so useful. There's a variety of different lights and I love that, because when I do my makeup, I can choose which light depending on the day outside. Like if it's cloudy, I know my makeup would look better by adjusting the light to the natural light outside. (I don't like to see my face up that close, but I appreciate that it also came with a 10x zoom mirror you can also stick on to it.) My boyfriend also approves, he uses it more than I do for his skincare, as he has cystic acne. He loves the light. You can recharge it, but I used it as soon as I got it with no charge and it stayed on my entire 20 minute makeup routine. The media could not be loaded. Pros: 1. Portable and compact: I love that it closes flat so I can put it in the carry-on pocket. For travel purposes 2. Versatile lighting options: With three colors light modes available, it adjusted well to all lighting environment. I have tried the mirror indoors on a poor light environment, and it works perfect to have this light that can be charged via USB port. Very practical. 3. 10X magnifying mirror: I love this added feature. However, I would’ve preferred if it’s in build in the product and not an additional piece as it could easily get lost in travels. 5. Rechargeable and cordless: I really enjoy the fact that this mirror does not require batteries, it is also environmentally friendly and easy to charge. 6. Even when not used in travels, I love that this mirror is compact enough to save inside a drawer. I am planning to use this daily on my bathroom and I really enjoy that it can fall flat for storage. 7. I love the magnetic closing system, makes it really easy to maneuver and I know it won’t get open when I store it vertical. Cons: 1. Limited magnification options: While the 10X magnifying mirror is great, I wonder if it could also have a 5X additional mirror. Personally, when I use a 10 X magnifying mirror for too long, it could cause a headache, so 5X mirror would be a great add in feature as well. 2. Takes a while to charge for the first time. It took about 10 minutes plugged to charge for the first time before I could use the light feature. 3. A bit on the large size to carry on your purse. As I mentioned above, I would love to see this product on a half size version. Then I can carry it on my purse and it doesn’t take too much space. It is not bulky when folded, but it is large. 4. Mirror lid seems easy to break when pushed. Pushing and being pressed down, is very common when packing for travels, I am afraid this lid might not withstand a lot of force. An improvement could be to have the lid made out of latex or some stretchier plastic.
