  • Not a single regret with this purchase! Not a single regret with this purchase!
Style: Base Color: Graphite Gray
Absolutely thrilled with this decision! Bought a few weeks ago in anticipation of my boyfriend’s birthday next month and also because I just wanted a fun way to make some instant memories and this was just the thing I needed. After comparing several instant cameras, I came to the decision that the Square 6 was the perfect blend of accessibility and vintage charm. As pictured, there are a variety of photo settings that are designed to be simple enough to choose from and use without having to engineer your own exposure or focus and it feels so simple a child could use it which I love. The shutter button is on the front of the camera about an inch and a half under the viewfinder which has a small circle chiseled into the glass so you can center your subject instead of estimating, a very elegant solution to the viewfinder being in the far corner of the device so you don’t have to struggle to frame the shots. The photos are a bit smaller than I thought but I don’t dislike that because they develop beautifully, display adorably and are small enough to be given out as mementos if you want. Photo pack went into the slot perfectly and I had no issues with jamming or development. I really think the reviews complaining about how the pictures come out didn’t consider the actual purpose of buying an instant camera. If what you want is perfectly crisp, perfectly balanced photos, look elsewhere! This is a wonderful camera for nostalgia, sharing and learning how to thoughtfully capture the things you care about on film. I bought a sweet little leather case for it and 2 20 packs of film and have been having so much fun snapping photos and figuring out where to display them around the apartment! Best $80 I’ve spent in a while and absolutely an experience in and of itself! ... show more

  • top tier gift that you can’t go wrong with
Style: Base Color: Aqua Blue
I’m going to apologize in advance if I get carried away or ramble on but I can’t say enough for how fantastic this is. whether you are looking for a gift for someone else or yourself, young or old, you will knock it out of the park. if you can manage to find this on a sale or deal like I did then it is a no-brainer one would assume that if you are reading this review that you are already familiar with how the device works but I’ll give a quick rundown just to show it easy it is - slide the power switch to turn it on, point the camera at what you want a memory of, and it spits out a small instant picture when you press the shutter that you can see the results after about two minutes (over-simplification? massively but you get the point) I can’t speak to the functionality of the original polaroid cameras (other than they were quite large) but I do appreciate that this camera comes with different modes depending on if you want to do selfie/macro/wide shoots/etc along with lightening or darkening the shot. these take a little practice to get exactly right but that’s part of the charm, playing around and seeing what you get. since I bought this I haven’t had to swap out the batteries yet so I can’t speak to that (does take a specialty battery so I suggest having backups) but I am very impressed with the build of this for the price point. the blue/metal color looks great and gets so many compliments, it has a nice weight to it without feeling like you are lugging something around all day. even comes with a neckstrap to keep it safe and secure (I prefer to just toss it in my bag personally). the only knock that I will give this is that the viewfinder doesn’t seem to be in a very logical position. having the shutter button on the right side of the camera it makes sense in my mind that you would have the viewfinder of the left (because also most people tend to use their right eye). I had read another review that had mentioned it but it didn’t strike me as how odd it was until I was actually holding it for myself. full disclosure - I am not a professional photographer by any stretch of the imagination so I can’t speak to the technical side of things as far as aperature and all those things. it’s a blast and a half that fits in your hand ... show more

  • Definitely worth it!! Awesome camera
Style: Base Color: Graphite Gray
I love this camera, it is amazing. If you're struggling between choosing the Instax Mini or the Square, or even a Polaroid camera, I would totally go for the Instax Sq6. It offers way more features for only 10 bucks more than the Mini 9 or 11 and it's just better overall, in my opinion. Great camera and great quality photos for a really good price. Real easy to use as well, great for starters. You do have to be mindful of which setting you are using though, for example, make sure you don't accidentally take a close up shot while in landscape mode. But yeah, this camera is awesome. Would totally recommend this one over any of the Minis and any Polaroids. The Instax film lasts longer than Polaroid film (from what I've heard and seen) and Instax film is way cheaper than Polaroid film (but still great quality). I love this camera, it's great. I will say though, when I am taking a photo indoors (or in a bit of a dimmer setting outside, such as dusk), the pictures tend to come out more crisp and clear when I use the flash. When I don't use the flash, the pictures come out a bit blurrier. But, it's not horrible or a deal-breaker, and it may just be the way I'm using it. I also think that's just how instant cameras are. Overall, this camera is amazing and I definitely recommend it for anyone who's trying to find a good instant camera. ... show more

  • Great instant camera with great features Great instant camera with great features
Style: Base Color: Graphite Gray
Looking for a cheaper alternative to shooting with my Polaroid on 600 film, I started looking at Instax cameras. My initial purchase was an Instax Mini 40. After some additional research, I ended up returning that and getting this one instead for a few reasons. Firstly, this one is a lot sturdier and feels better built. At the time of purchase about 6 months ago, it was also only about $20 more than the Instax Mini 40. I also liked the square film format better than the regular Instax film. The extra features were what really sold me on the SQ6 however, more specifically the double exposure mode, timer, and different lighting modes. For what you get, I think this is a great instant camera. With the right expectations going into it, you won't be disappointed. As long as you have adequate lighting, the pictures generally come out pretty nice and vibrant. Instax film doesn't have quite as much of that "retro" film look as the Polaroid film does, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. The SQ6 is a great camera for people out on the go who want to take instant film, and it has the added benefit of being much cheaper per shot than Polaroid film. It's a good bridge between the cheaper Instax cameras and something more expensive and with better features like a Lomo. ... show more

  • Fantastic instant camera for beginners and professionals alike Fantastic instant camera for beginners and professionals alike
Style: Base Color: Graphite Gray
Bought this camera for an upcoming trip to Hawaii, but it’s so versatile that I’ve already used it pretty extensively. Picture quality is great for the price, just ensure that you don’t flinch or move or else the image will be incredibly blurry. I’ll also note that pictures tend to be pretty cool, but you can definitely get them a bit warmer with adequate lighting. This is essentially a point-and-click camera with instant payoff. I find the film to be fairly priced and a much better deal than Polaroid film. Polaroid films might be bigger, but I actually appreciate the pocket-sized square films of this camera because they’re easier to store and organize. All in all, I can’t recommend this camera enough for people just entering the world of instant cameras and people who want to experiment with the multiple picture modes and filters that come included with the camera. The self-timer is so easy to use for group photos and it’s perfectly sized for travel, not too bulky and it comes with a comfy neck strap. If you’re still torn on which camera to buy, I don’t think you’ll find anything easier or as high-quality for the price as this one! ... show more

  • Just about the best you can get for a true instant film camera these days Just about the best you can get for a true instant film camera these days
Style: Base Color: Graphite Gray
This is a great camera if you are craving some nostalgia of using real instant film. If you are looking for a square format instant film your choices are pretty much the Instax Square or the Polaroid 600 film made by Impossible Project/Polaroid Originals/Polaroid. The main differences between the two are that the Instax Square film costs less than half per shot compared to Polaroid, is considerably smaller in overall image size, and has proven longevity. The Polaroid film is nice since it is the larger, original Polaroid size, but it is very costly at around $2 per exposure and there have also been reports of the film chemistry not holding up over time. I have Instax prints from over 5 years ago that still look the same as when they were first taken so I am confident that Fuji knows what they are doing (especially given their decades and decades of experience across all types of film). As for the camera itself, it is large by today's standards - as you should expect. This isn't something you stick in your pocket just in case you want to take pictures. You'll only carry this with you when you are sure you'll want to take some instant shots. The controls are very easy. Just turn the camera on and the lens extends, then point and shoot. There are some basic mode selections that you can set such as close up or distance focusing, as well as a setting to make the image lighter or darker. The lighter or darker setting isn't too useful unless you are okay using several prints to get the same picture right (since you have to take a picture first to determine if it is too light or too dark to begin with). Unless you are very picky it's probably better to just keep the original shot as-is and if you really want to save it you can always just scan it in to your computer and lighten or darken it that way. There is a small "selfie mirror" on the front of the camera which makes taking selfies easy and they actually seem to come out pretty accurately just by aiming the camera based on what you see in the small mirror. One nitpick I have is that the viewfinder is located on the right side of the back of the camera. This means if you are like me and are used to looking through viewfinders with your right eye your nose will hit the back of the camera. So it's not an ideal position but it is still workable. The camera also includes 3 colored flash filters that you can easily snap onto the flash to add some effects to your pictures if you like. Personally I don't have any use for them and haven't even opened them but this might be a fun feature for some people. The camera uses two CR2 lithium batteries which aren't the most common batteries so you probably want to buy a few spares if you take it somewhere that you don't expect to find camera batteries. I also want to point out that Fuji makes 3 film sizes and in general each Instax camera can only use the one film size that the camera is designed for. The smallest Mini size is as you'd expect what the smallest cameras use but the images are quite small. The Square size is slightly larger and gives you a square format just like Polaroid 600 film (albeit smaller overall than Polaroid). This is probably the best size for most people, especially if you are used to the square format from things like Instagram. Fuji also makes a Wide film which is about the size of two Mini images. This is the largest instant film they make and the associated cameras are quite a bit larger, as you'd expect. I think most people will find that the Square format like this camera uses is the best compromise for image size and camera size. It's also worth mentioning that some companies make "digital instant" cameras. These cameras actually capture the image digitally and then use a small printer and special paper inside the camera to product the "instant" print. These cameras are fine if your goal is to produce prints quickly for fun, but to me they don't have the appeal of a true instant film camera. With Instax cameras you are getting the actual piece of film that the light hit to produce your image. There's something special about holding the actual piece of film that was exposed to whatever image is on it. That piece of film was really there when the photo was taken. So if you want a true film camera that is using real chemical-based film and instant developing processes then Instax is the way to go. ... show more

  • LOVE IT
Style: Base Color: White
I absolutely LOVE my camera! My coworker let me borrow her Fujifilm Instax Mini 9. The whole process fascinated me. I was between a Polaroid Snap Touch, FujiFilm Instax Mini 90, and the Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6. I decided on the SQ6 after seeing video reviews. I appreciate that I can take pictures without flash. Also, I liked the square film more than the mini. Yes it is a bit more expensive than the mini film, but I prefer the larger photo size. I have taken it with me to Paris, Disneyland, and events with family and friends. I really love the look of my camera and how easy it is to use. People are fascinated by it and the mystery of how the pictures will come out. Even people that are camera shy will ask for a picture. I am still figuring out the double exposure and the rest of the settings, but figuring out will be fun. One of the cons is that there is not a lot accessories for it, like there is for the Fujifilm Instax Mini. I have had to look for camera bags that will suit my needs. I definitely recommend! ... show more
