  • Almost perfect
Color: Flamingo Pink Style: Base
If it weren't for the lighting quality issues, I would seriously say this was a perfect purchase! The color is super cute, all the accessories were great (especially the fish eye lens, which I used for wider shots). They're soooo easy to use and print super fast! Unfortunately we had a brightly lit hall on a cloudy day and the lighting just did not work so for its first use, many pictures came out too dark even after going though the different brightness settings. Excited to try again and hope for better pictures! ... show more

  • Fabulous camera and instant photos!
Color: Ice Blue Style: Base
Review for: Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 instant camera and film. I purchased this camera and film for use at a wedding reception. The camera, and the instant photos, were an incredible success! I spent the night getting to know everyone at the reception by photographing and gifting the instant photos to everyone there. Guests were excited and very appreciative. I also took additional photos of everyone as gifts for the bride and groom. I brought along some fine-point sharpies for folks to notate the photos, but that would have slowed me down, so ended up not using the pens. Some things to consider when using this camera: * Your best, indoor, photos will be a distance of no more than 3-4 feet. Any farther than 4 feet and the resulting photo really isn't big enough for details. Closer than 3 feet and you'll likely need to use the close-up lens (but the photo really won't be as good as without the lens at the 3-4 foot distance). I haven't yet taken any daylight photos, but I'm sure when I do they will turn out as well, if not better, than those using the flash (as long as I maintain the proper distance). * Refrain from action shots. This camera really can't focus and snap fast enough for motion shots. So try to stick to posed photos, you'll be glad you did. * Use the viewfinder as much as you can (to help position your shots). I found, as the evening progressed, folks were not always willing to stand still while I lined them up in the viewfinder, so a quick point-and-shoot photo, without using the viewfinder, worked well. Take enough photos and you will eventually get a feel for where to point for the best photo. * If you do use the close-up lens, remember to get closer to your subject, and also remember to center the subject in the lower-left corner of the viewfinder for the best photo, as the close-up lens is slight offset. * Have plenty of film on hand. You only get 10 shots per film pack, and then you're switching to a new pack. With a lot of guests to photograph, you'll be switching packs a lot. Remember, when you start a new pack, you must first eject the film cover sheet (a black sheet; not a photograph). You'll get used to telling folks why you're seemingly taking a picture of your shoes after every 10 shots. I've seen other reviews where problems with the film were reported (all photos black, colors bad, etc.). I had absolutely none of those problems. In fact, both the camera and film performed flawlessly. The 'official' wedding photographer was quite enamored with what I was doing. She was taking photos with a very nice digital camera with powerful flash, and I'm sure her photos will be treasured by the bride and groom forever. My photos, using the Instax camera, were not digital quality, but everyone had a lot of fun seeing the results instantly. I was accumulating photos - collecting photos in my pocket as I roved around the room, returning every few minutes to drop them off at my table) - and I found the wedding photographer on more than one occasion taking photos of the instant photos on my table. Everyone at the reception loved the instant photos that I was handing out, and the bride and groom loved the stack of about 75 photos that I presented to them the next day. Great memories of a wonderful occasion. This is a great camera and I highly recommend it for fun photography. ... show more

  • Slightly better than the sharper image instant camera but not as much
Color: Lime Green Style: Base
I bought this camera because Amazon was selling it for $20 less than it's usual price. I said hey that's a deal I'll get it. Shortly after, I found out that Sharper Image had an instant camera that was a lot cheaper than what this camera was ($20 brand new on eBay, $11 at Walmart). So I bought them both and decided to do a side by side comparison. If I liked one more than the other, I could return one. If I liked them both, I'd keep both. Both cameras used the same Fujifilm mini film so you don't have to go out of your way buying different film for both which is nice. They also both have the same types of functions on them - indoor, outdoor/cloudy, sunny, hi-key. very easy to use and uses AA batteries. The Fujifilm camera has a little mirror on it for selfies and an attachment for upclose shots, but the sharper image camera did not. They also both look very different but for turning them on was the same concept. You pushed a button and the camera lens popped out. When taking the pictures I decided to just take a photo of the same thing, on the same setting just to see how each photo came out. The Fujifilm photos printed out vertically whereas the sharper image photo came out horizontally. Each took about the same time to spit out the film and develop (30secs-45secs). The first 2 photos I took with the Fujifilm came out black which is unfortunate because it's a waste of film. I took an additional 2 and they came out normal. The first picture was of my fish tank. It came out clear and showed the entire tank in the photo. It had a black dots in the middle which I will attribute to either the flash or my own error because the same thing appeared on the same image with the sharper image pic I took. With the sharper image photo, it didn't show the entire tank. It was more wide. It makes more sense I suppose because of the orientation of how the film comes out of the cameras. I also took photos of my fish in a jar on both cameras. Fujifilm came out clear and vertical, sharper image came out blurry and horizontal. Upon closer inspection of the photos, the Fujifilm pics came out much clearer. You can see the details more clearly and it is more focused. The sharper image photos came out blurry, more fuzzy. Upclose shots were particularly bad, far away- not as noticable. However, the Fujifilm camera did have some black photos come out which is a no no considering how expensive the film is. If it spits out 4 or 5 black pics every packet of 10 that's a waste of money. I'd much rather take the chance of a slightly blurry pic than waste film. Ultimately it's up to you though. I'm going to keep both and use them more to see how they continue to compare with one another. Worse comes to worse, I resell lol. Update: I ordered a replacement for my Fujifilm camera because some of the film kept coming out black. It wasn't defective film, more like a defective camera. ... show more
